Vortex

So I've taken the plunge and jumped into the desktop replacement laptops with both feet.

Have to say my very excited for my new laptop arriving and sleeping every thing crossed it's works floorlessly.

Specs.

I7 8700k.
1080 sli.
16gb 2400mhz ram.
500gb m.2 ssd.
1tb firecuda hdd.
Ek thermal paste.

Looking forward to putting it though it's paces now.

Tasty spec :) You got a nice monitor to use with it as well, or a 4k TV or something?

No but I might in future I got it as I travel a lot for work and really just future proofing for the next 5 years.

I really wanted the clevo 870 case as all the reviews I heard about the 775 case was that it ran hot.

I only wanted one 1080 but pc specialist would only do the 870 in sli, so here we are with a overkill laptop haha.

I'm sure I'll love it when I get it.

Hi! Please post an update when you receive your laptop. It is interesting how it performs in terms of temperature and noise.

Sure thing but I don't get it until 23rd as I'm out of the country.

I did plenty of research and they seem to run well with an undervolt to keep them cool and the redesigned heat pipes seem to work well.

There are suppliers that offer vapour chambers and de lidding which really help of you're wanting to serious over clock it but pc specialist don't offer that service and wouldn't allow that type of modification.

I am expecting it to be louder than my current laptop under full load just with the hardware this thing is packing.

Ah, I see where it says IPS. It's possibly worth noting that PCS seem to have switched several of their other 1080p panels to 120hz TN, and although the summary of the Vortex says IPS, the Display section in the configurator carefully avoids saying it's IPS.

PCS sometimes forget to update the descriptions in the configurator and/or the detailed specs page.

It may well be IPS, but I wouldn't bank on it until it's in your hands.
