This is a series I never got into for whatever reason that is, think it just didn't hit my radar at the time.
But this looks really very good indeed, I may well have to sink some decades into this!

Yes! Back in prep school when I was a wee lad and there was an accompanying book series that charted all the factions and ranks etc. Was awesome!

That’s it! I remember using a tape measure and dice to move your squad. This is how I remember it. The games lasted forever

For a while I bought the little diecast figures and hand painted them, then I got swayed by other things like women and parties and that all went out the window.
I'd love to know what happened to those because I had quite a healthy collection.
Never played any tabletop things like Warhammer. But when I was leaving football training at school and saw the Warhammer enthusiasts playing in the hall I was always curious about what they were up to. They seemed to be having a lot of fun… and they’d also not just spent two hours freezing on a pitch outdoors, having lumps kicked out of them and getting verbal abuse from Mr Armstrong.

OMG we had a teacher called Mr Armstrong, he was proper old school forces, strict as they come, taught English I think.
Ours was a bit militant too, maybe there’s something about that name?

And I'll even overlook the fact it's Smurf Marines again lol (Primaris ones though)
Tbh I actually like Ultramarines more than most Chapters and having read (some of) the HH books, totally get the real point of the Codex Astartes etc (it's more... guidelines)
Yes, long time GW fan here, even if I haven't bought a miniature or pot of paint since around the millennium. Life, uh, gets in the way (and that hobby was expensive even then) but I had my fair share of ridiculous armies. My main was Epic 40K, initially Squats (yes, that far back) and Chaos but thanks to a couple of mates working at GW and having access to discounts at the foundry, my crowning glory was a 20,000 pt combined Imperial task force. Maybe more battle than you could play in a day but 36 Leman Russ tanks make one hell of a point (all lost in mum's attic now) I'm currently getting myself ready for Total War: Warhammer 3 but this trailer is definitely one to watch out for.

Had a few stand out tough guy teachers and staff at my school (was a specialist one for broken kids that I somehow ended up in... bad call, long story) We had some ex forces guys and an ex police diver running the outdoor pursuits dept, which was the best part of the whole deal.
Another staff member represented GB in Judo at the Olympics, a total savage but in the best way. Good folks all, the staff in that troubled place.

Same mate! I spent all my pocket money on the figures and painted them. My dad had a train model system in his loft so we used that as a battle ground ha so much fun but I think I ended up chucking them all out once I experienced alcohol 🍺
Oh, the discovery of alcohol and such only increased our hunger and nerdism.
My little friends group had an old workshop down the back garden of one of the families. Some old sofas, cushions, fridge, stereo system etc. Many and long were the weekends in the 90's playing tabletop games, RPG's and getting slaughtered doing so with a backing of the devil's music 🤘
This continued even after the discovery of womenfolk, work and dull concepts of worldly worthiness. Variety is, after all, the spice of life.
At the same time, three of us (but not me) worked in the same GW store and eventually all but ran the place. You can believe late shut ins became a thing with a kebab shop on one side and a Firkin pub on the other.
Twas such things as made an otherwise awful decade for me bearable.
