Warranty On Internal Components [For Ordered Desktops etc]

I have had a search around and can't find an answer to my question.

I've noted all the Warranty's that PCS offer when you buy a complete new PC, but what about the internal components that actually are used within a new PC ? Example. I'm looking at getting a PC with a Seagate Barracuda Pro drive installed. Now checking on the Seagate website it appears they come with a 5 year warranty as standard. Now the top offered PCS warranty is "3 Year Platinum Return-to-Base". Would I still be covered, under warranty, by Seagate for the full 5 years ?

The same situation also applies to the Samsung EVO 960 Pro, which has a 5 year warranty offered by Samsung.

Can anyone throw any light on these issues ?

Many thanks in advance.

PS To add. If the specific manufacturers warranty's don't apply in these situations, what would be the actual point in buying these compenents, unless you fit them yourself ? They are quite expensive.

I believe you do get the manufacturer's warranty. But if you want the exact details I suggest you phone PCS (or email them if you want it in writing) as most users here are just members of the customer community like us and don't work for PCS.

Do let us know exactly what they say, however :)

On a side note, the 960 Pro and Barracuda Pros are supremely expensive versus the consumer 960 Evos (which are already damn expensive) and the regular 7200rpm drives, and for most people the performance difference will not be close to being worth it. Do make sure they fit your needs before shelling out.

[1] I most certainly will update this thread when I have a definitive reply.

[2] Indeed they are very expensive, hence the reason why I started this thread.

Many thanks for replying, it is very much appreciated.

I'm in agreement with Oussebon, my belief is that if there is outstanding manufacturer warranty on a failed part that PCS will pass that on to you.

I have some practical experience of this too. On my old Optimus IV laptop I did at one stage think I might be having issues with my SSD. PCS helped me establish that there was nothing wrong with it, but they did say that there was a 5-year manufacturer's warranty on it so they'd swap it at no cost if it did fail within that time period.

What I can say after buying a desktop and a laptop from PCS, and from seeing on here how they respond to problems, that whilst I understand (and shared at first) your worry that you might somehow get ripped off, you can buy with confidence from PCS. They're not looking to make a fast buck and then run away, nor are there any hidden 'gotchas' in their level of service. I have recommended PCS to many friends and will continue to do so, they're a trustworthy company. :)

Thanks for the reply Ubuysa

Indded PCS are good. I've bought from them before. I'm actually using their PC at the moment. Solidly built, no issues apart from a failed graphics card. I've had it nearly 4 years though..

I do hope you are correct with the warranty situation. Fingers crossed here.

Thanks again
