Warranty when Upgrading

Hi all,

I am considering upgrading a couple of straight forward components on my laptop and wondered what the position would be with regard to warranty cover. One of the reasons I like PCS is because it seems to have a reasonable approach to warranty cover but wanted to check here that I am not mis-understanding anything.

Specifically, I was thinking of adding an additional 2 RAM modules in the 2 free slots and changing out the secondary spindle hard drive for an SSD.

Other than not covering failure of the 2 new RAM modules and the new SSD, I am assuming that everything else would be covered.

Is that correct ?

You are allowed change or add components without voiding the warranty, provided the act of you doing this or the new parts themselves do not cause damage to the laptop/pc.

Quote from PCS T&C's:

"Unlike with most computer companies, we allow you to open your case and install your own components without voiding your warranty on the following conditions:

•if the actions of the person installing the components cause damage to the computer, your warranty will be void;

•if you install components that are not purchased from us and they cause problems with your computer, your warranty will be void;

•if you install components that are not purchased from us we will in no way support you in installing them or with any problems you have relating to the components you have installed.

•we will support you in installing components purchased from us providing you have purchased them through the upgrade service available on your online account."

Have a read of these Terms & Conditions (section 6.7)
