Webcam driver - Bison

Hi,

I had some issues with my USB ports recently. The drivers got messed up.
The fix was to completely uninstall a lot of stuff from Device Manager and reinstall with drivers from clevo. As part of this uninstall process, I had to delete the software/drivers, because without this it would reinstall using those same drivers and cause the same issues.

So I uninstalled a lot of stuff under the USB section, and seemingly something else as well, as now my webcam wont work. I havent used the webcam in a while, and it worked the last time i tried, so haven't got too many reasons to suspect hardware fault.

Device Manager is unable to detect or install the relevant drivers and just displays "Bison, NB Pro" under Other Devices. I have tried installing the drivers form both the Clevo site, and under my account on the main site here, but the drivers wont install, and crash out saying they can't find the .msi file, which is actually located in the same directory as the installer. It's weird.

Anyway, does anyone have an alternative source for some working drivers for this webcam?

Thanks.

One method you can try if your a bit savvy with it.
Use a program like 7zip that can extract the install msi file, you will likely get a bunch of ini files etc which are the drivers. From there you can go down the manual re-install route from device manager and point it to that folder and see if the system picks up the ini files and installs it that way.

Excellent. Wasn't aware the .msi file contained the .ini files.
Will try that when I get home.

Thanks!

Not saying it defiantly will but I have found some driver packages to be extractable into the raw driver files, so worth a go!

Hi,

Nah, that didn't work unfortunately.
Actually, I left the detail out that I had searched these forums for similar issues and a lot of people suggested installing the HotKey drivers. The .msi I mentioned above was actually the HotKey drivers install file.

The previous threads suggested installing the HotKey drivers because you can enable/disable the webcam, and a lot of people had simply disabled it. This is not a problem for me because I have the HotKey panel there, and I'm aware of the Fn key to enable/disable the webcam.

So at the moment, I think, it's really a case of finding the correct drivers.

I found some other drivers from some people called "Alcor" which allow windows to install drivers and detect the webcam. It looks fine, but when I load up Skype and go into the camera section in Settings, it just displays a loading spinner indefinitely, so while it looks to be installed, those drivers just don't work.

So ye, like I said, its just a case of finding the right drivers.

The drivers should be within windows.

This has been done on a couple of Linux distros, not sure if it will work in Windows. Look for a freeware webcam download and install it and see if that works, it may also bring drivers with it that will fix your system.

Still can't get this going.

Would it be possible for someone to go into Device Manager, double click their BisonCam, go into the Drivers tab, and then click the Driver Details button.
This will pop up the location and name of the driver you are using.

If you could paste that in, that'd be great.

Thanks.

This is frustrating.

I loaded up a Live Linux CD and booted my laptop into the Linux desktop. I loaded up some webcam software and the webcam worked straight away.

This leads me to believe that its not a hardware issue, but a driver issue!!!

I'm not sure if my Windows is messed up or what (I have other issues like when it goes to sleep, I need to disable/enable wifi before it connects), but this is frustrating

Hello good sir. As requested, look at the attached screenshot BisonWebcam.png

For your convenience, I also re-packaged the driver for you, so you should be able to to install it manually using device manager -> Right click "update driver" -> Browse my computer for software -> Let me pick from a list of devices -> Have disk and navigate to the .inf file from the .zip file

Download the repackaged driver here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46469811/USB Video Device.zip - I've never installed my webcam driver that way, but in theory that should definitely work.

Yes!

Thanks man.
Got it working first time! Much appreciated!!!

By the way, the reason I didn't have that driver was because I accidentally deleted it a while back.
