Weird kaleidoscope effect in Tomb Raider

Had a very quick go on Tomb raider last night and everything ran fine for the first couple of minutes, opening cut sequence look pretty good etc and I was ready to settle down for a bit. Once I came out of the cave and start making my way down the path I kept getting this weird black/ brown swirly kaleidoscope type effect on the screen. The game itself didn't crash as I could still hear the sound effects and footsteps etc but you can't see anything except the twisty thing of death. Alt+tab out and back in fixes it momentarily but then it happens again.

I've had a quick (very) look online but the main problems related the game crashing and kicking people out and not what I've been getting. The settings are on Ultra with the TressFX turned off and my specs are the bottom of the post. I'll try various settings when I get a chance but it seems odd that the game would play fine (benchmark comes in at low 40fps) and then flip out like this? Anyone seen/experienced/heard of anything similar?

I think it is related to Nvidia cards from what I've been hearing, a mate at work has been having problems with it with his 680 too.

Same as Keedar here, I had significant issues with TressFX for a while but with driver updates (and game updates) it seems to have cleared up now.

You could try the 'optimised' Tomb Raider driver - 314.21 I think it was. I think they ironed out this problem in that release?

I had the same problem after escaping from the cave at the start. Hitting the screenshot button for steam fixed it usually, but the shot never shown what it actually looked like at the time for me. I think it's something to do with the hair textures option for the Graphics settings, I changed it to the other one and never had that again. I posted a screenshot in the thread under this sub-forum of the texture colours going all yellow and such, too, which was also fixed when I changed the hair oddly enough. ---> https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...6-Screenshots!&p=204900&viewfull=1#post204900
