What do I need to play Minecraft online with my nephew?

Noob question I know.

1) A couple of headsets are first on the list, are there a couple of cheap but effective ones you'd recommend?
2) He owns it on his Asus "tablet", would we have to buy a different version for the PC for him? (I already own it on PC).
3) Is there a standard server that we'd both use?

I am quite tech savvy when it comes to my laptop but have never linked to anyone online before. He is eleven so hopefully he'll show me the way once we're linked up? Is there anything else obvious I'm missing?

Many thanks, Matt

PS, I have an Optimus V

1) I'm sure are others that could answer this one better than me as I don't use a headset. :)
2) You say tablet so I'm assuming he has the Android version? If so he'll need to buy a copy of the PC version if he wants to play on PC.
3) You can set up your own. Just go to the downloads section on minecraft.net and download the multiplayer server.

Number 1. Turtlebeach headsets are great these are around £40 but I'm sure you can find something cheaper if you both only want to play Minecraft

Number 2. I personally have no idea about this question.

Regarding Number 3, If you want to play on the server separately with your computer turned off, you have to pay for your own server, unless you leave your computer on with Minecraft running in the background.

Number 2, you will need to buy a pc copy for him.
number 3, there are plenty of servers you can play on for free that are set to certain game styles (dubcraft server does pvp type games)
otherwise you need to create a virtual server on one of your pc's to play on, do a search for Hamachi as its a bit complicated. (both need the same Minecraft game version so better buying!!.... its cheep anyway )
