What does the 3 year warranty cover?

Badly need a laptop that will last at least 3 years through college.

If the motherboard was to have problems after 2 years how would the warranty work? Will you just replace the motherboard or what way does it work?

Also whats the overall quality of the 15 inch Optimus case like? Am i likely to have problems with the hinges or power connection?

It depends on which warranty you get.

In your example, you would have to pay for replacement parts after 1 year with the standard warranty, or after 2 years with Gold - but they don't charge you for the work in doing the replacement.
