Hey guys, i was wondering what PSU is recommend if you wanted to run a tri SLI with the motherboard

Motherboard
ASUS® MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (NEW REV 3.0): INTEL P67 ROG MOTHERBOARD and the Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2500 Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics.
The GPU would be Graphics Card
1.5GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 580 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

I'd say 1200W :) But I don't think PCS offer triple SLI on the motherboard (even though it is possible) for some reason only the Rampage 3 Extreme comes up on the LSI configurator. Unless ofcourse you intend on fitting your own GPU's :)

I was thinking a 1200W, just wanted to here it from somebody else, well im going to buy it with 1 GPU and probably over time add another or even another :), so im just planning ahead with the PSU :)

if you are considering getting 3, i think you will probably be best off catering for your needs now, 750W or whatever then get something later, because they will have probably released a 1500W or something which you will need for best performance

you can buy 1500W PSU's externally if you so desire :) as long as you have enough power in your PSU, having a bigger one won't offer a performance boost.

you can crossfire 3gpu on the dragon config in the amd option.

You will need a 1200w if you plan to tripple the 580 but to me that is mad overkill lol.

AMD will bottleneck your GPU's when you have more than one (no offence to any AMD owners)

And yeah I think you're better of getting a single 590, and if it ever comes to it then buy a second lol (equivalent to quad GTX580 SLI)

I was told that 2 gfx cards in AMD is fine, but 3 is bottleneck, i know someone who has what i believe to be 2xHD6950 and they are PRO, best performance ive ever seen and thats why im following that move by getting HD6970 with 1200W PSU so i can get a second later

Could someone tell me the differences between the 1010W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£99) and the CORSAIR 1000W PRO SERIES (HX1000) 80+ MODULAR PSU (£168) please? :)

Corsair one is much better in every way, even the price is bigger! it will last a lot longer than the normal ones supplied by PCS

The corsair hx1000 psu is a good modular certified psu by corsair and is alot more energy effient and reliabe also alot more quiet an less heat producing than the standard psu. not sure what make is the 1010w psu that pcs provides but they are non-mod psu.

its definetly worth it, ive chosen their 1200W PSU over the PCS supplied 1200W PSU although the difference is slightly less than the 1000W ones, and the difference will be even less when the special offer finishes
