Which Virus Guard Should I get?

Been very happy with Bullguard so far have only five days left on the free trial period and so will be entitled to a 50% discount if I renew my subscription for a year. As mentioned quite pleased so far with Bullguard as it doesn't seem to be to intrusive. But with my purchase of an Asus Motherboard I would be entitled to 1 year free subscription to Kaspersky. What Virus Guard do you think is better, putting aside cost?

The ones you mentioned are both very reliable . I use Kaspersky and it's great, if you are getting it for free I don't see why you need to pay for bullguard.

To be honest I don't see why it's necessary to pay for good security these days. I have used Comodo Internet Security (CIS) for years now and it's free (http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php?track=2737&key5sk1=47e907be7cce159a1ef808ec8e32b4de313d9723&key5sk2=2128&key5sk3=1395214470000&key5sk6=2128&key5sk7=1394531573000&key5sk8=2737&key5sk9=1395214473000&key6sk1=&key6sk2=FF270&key6sk3=40&key6sk4=en-gb&key6sk5=GR&key6sk6=0&key6sk7=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.comodo.com%2F&key6sk8=120-1&key6sk9=19201080&key6sk10=true&key6sk11=50e9c13270b8a37971e7a258226dce6d180f7c15&key6sk12=2034&key7sk1=2&key1sk1=dt&key1sk2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.comodo.com%2F). They do offer (and promote) a paid-for version but all that gets you is additional support, the CIS product is the same whether you use it for free or whether you pay.

CIS includes truly excellent firewall, anti-vrius and defence tools. The only problem with CIS really is that there are lots and lots of configuration options, although the default setting provides reasonable security for most people. If you really understand what you're doing with CIS though you can really secure your system, equally you can of course shoot yourself in the foot. :)

CIS just works, as I said I've been using it for years. If you do download it there is on thing you need to look for when you install it. On one of the first install screen and the bottom left-nad side is an clickable option called Advanced Settings. Click that and you'll see a windows listing what will be installed by default. Uncheck GeekBuddy (it's part of the paid system and offers online and instant tech support) and also uncheck PrivDog (it's a sort of ad-blocker but it's not s effective as adblock and it allows those ads that are considered safe. I don't use it and I don't recommend it. You will want to install Comodo Dragon. It's a chromium based browser but without all the Google spyware and with additional privacy measures built in. Even if you don't use it as your default browser it's handy to have around.

You might also want to checkout (and even join) the Comodo forums at http://forums.comodo.com/. You find ubuysa on there too. :)

I use AVG Free and have been for years now. I, like ubuysa don't see the need for purchasing computer security these days, there are so many free versions that provide plenty of protection. AVG along with the occasional Malwarebytes scan and just not being stupid and going on dodgy sites I have never had any problems on the 4 PC's that I have used it on, neither have any of my family.
