Why are Windows 7 Operating Systems (64bit) so pricey?

I was checking out my new laptop configurations, and I found it weird that the Windows 7 home premium 64 bit operating system which I chose added £101 to my order.

I can order these off a website named after a river in the Rainforest ( ) for £72, surely PCS get them much cheaper than this when they buy the OEM version in bulk? o.o

I would purchase the OS from PCS if it was cheaper..seems astounding to add around £30 extra than what others are selling at retail

I take the win 7 home premium (64bit) to be £86. Also, it does include the windows 8 upgrade I think (costs £14 I think).

It actually seems to depend which laptop you're speccing as to what it adds to the price, it starts at £79 and seems to go upto £99 for the ones I looked at, it's possible there's a small bug in the configurator calculations when you take off or add OS's, but I don't know.

I would like to see some clarification about this as well as I was considering buying a new desktop early next year.It used to be a fixed price for windows home premium,something like £79 but now it doesn't show the price.Also I was under the impression the upgrade to windows 8 for £14. 99.could only be downloaded from microsoft? and the offer ends 31st jan 2013.

The price is £79 and this has been re-added, so it should only increase by this amount. Whilst we are promoting it, the upgrade offer is being offered directly by Microsoft and Microsoft will be providing the upgrade, not PC Specialist.
