Hi there i am planning on upgrading from my xbox to a gaming pc as a graduation present to myself but after seeing the recommended specs for ac4 and watchdogs and the leaked potential specs for cod ghosts I'm worried that anything i was thinking of just wouldn't hold up to snuff for long enough to justify its price tag so i threw this together and wanted to see if you thought on a hardware side it was capable of lasting a good 6 to ten years at very high to ultra gaming performance.

I have saved up a large amount of my student loans and other income so i can afford this but i'm not certain that this is the best motherboard for sli (which i think is the only way at the moment to guarantee long term gaming excellence) as it doesn't have additional pci slots once I've added my gpu's so I'm not sure I'll get as good sound out of these speakers as i should. although my current laptop runs windows 8 i went with 7 because i prefer it and currently sli is not supported on the windows 8 OS in terms of hard drives I've got 1.5tb in externals already so i shouldn't need any more than what's listed here. and as this is designed in mind which extreme longevity i have gone for the best warranty available and although there is only 8gb ram in there at the moment i thought that is always easy to upgrade so if the need arises i would do it myself also i went for the six core cpu but i couldn't seem to find any 8 core plus cpu's in any part of this sites configuration is it possible to have one from here/ neede to have one at all (given the purpose i have in mind)

Errrr...if you just plan on gaming using one screen, you can definitely tone it down a bit.

It looks amazing...but just seems like way OTT for a single screen gaming rig.

Personally, I'd start with an i5 4670 and a GTX 770, give yourself the option to SLI and gradually upgrade as and when you need it.

Apologies if i missed something about what you're planning to use it for...Im one of the worst skim readers you'll ever come across. :)

thanks for reminding me about monitors my current laptop (the picec bare bones it is ) is connected to a with a hdmi to dvi adapter to fit my vga/dvi 22" monitor not sure if this would be compatible with the other monitor at the same time never used a dvi/vga and hdmi monitor on the same device at once before and the reason i'm putting all three 780's in now is i am not that good at upgrading (only upgraded laptops in the past) and putting ram has always been eas but i've never put in gpus etc and was worried the internal cable management would end up horendous

also just had a better look at the case for fan config and am not sure my radiator would fit in that as it says it occupies 2x120mm fan slots on the roof but it only has one roff spare slot any ideas if need a different case

A tri-sli set up is likely to create a lot of heat and you won't get much benefit from the 3rd gpu. I would get an i5 + gtx 770, spending a fraction of your budget and upgrading/replacing the system after 3 years. I don't really see any benefits from trying to future proof a system for so long by spending a lot in one go.

i see where you're coming from the reason i set up like this is the only upgrading i have ever done is ram which is simply and i was worried how hard upgrading cpus/gpus would be so i thought i would do it all in one go rather than tinker every three years and really an i5 or an i7

PCS offer an upgrade service, if I were you I would definitely reconsider the spec. It is a pretty high end spec but not worth the money for playing in 1 screen or just gaming. The warranty also covers parts for up to 3 years (platinum.

i forgot about the upgrade system so in this case do you recommend i keep with a crossfire/sli motherboard or strip down to a lower mb and just replace the gpu when needed

You'd want the SSD as your primary drive though wouldn't you so it will have the OS on it?

swapped that around and removed the extra fans seemed redundant to me now I've removed some gpus trying to decide if i need the hdd when I've got a total of 1.5tb in externals already

Also, is this literally just for gaming? Because a 'k' processor and 2400 RAM is pointless on a gaming rig really...

obviously this will become my primary desktop so will be used for emails general use etc but properly the most taxing thing on it will be games so maybe i should reduce the ram to the 2100 mark not what processor wouled be better suited to be honest with you
