I just bought my PCS laptop without a windows licence (i have a spare pro licence already), so it has the trial version of windows 7 home.
I want to install my version of pro on it, i have two questions:

Can i upgrade or must i do a clean install?

Can i backup drivers easily to an external source to make the installation easier? (i do have the discs that the laptop came with)

You need to do a clean install, then just install drivers from discs,or download from manufacturers website.

You should have recieved a couple of discs with your purchase, this will have the drivers for all the hardware on your machine. You may have even been given a software disc with CD writing software.

You'll need to do a fresh install.

Use you WIndows disc to boot from and format the harddrive, then let Windows install.

Once installed run through the driver CD installing the drivers.

Remember to update Windows too.

You cant use the upgrade option, unless you buy a windows upgrade version,or you have already bought a windows anytime upgrade key.
You also need to have a fully licensed OS already on your computer.
