windows 7 score decreased

Hi,

My windows 7 score has gone from 7.5 to 5.5 as the primary hard drive has fallen from 7.5 to 5.5, it said on the score screen that new hardware was found and a refresh was needed and after the refresh my ssd is showing as 5.5. Why is this and how can I restore my 7.5 score ?

Windows score is a terrible benchmark of performance, that said, sounds weird.

What is the drive described as in device manager and what happens if you reboot and re run the performance test?

just rebooted and still staying at 5.9.

When I click on my drive C there is a shortcut showing to drive D (secondary hdd) which was created last month, not by me, prob nothing to do with it. But that score sounds like a sata hdd not ssd so just wondered.

I've know WEI get confused - running some tests and not others, losing track of scores etc. Best thing to do is delete all of the scores and start again.

Go into the Control Panel and run the Performance and Information Tool. On the left-hand side of the window that opens, select Advanced Tools. At the top of the list in the new windows that opens, select the option to delete all old WEI scores and re-run the test.

See how you go and post back.

My monster pc only gets a rating of 5.9 due to the HD transfer rate - i thought the caviar black was supposed to be quick?
All other rating are 7.7 - 7.9, seems a bit harsh that the final score is based on the lowest rating rather than an average.

5.9 is as good as it gets with mechanical drives.

I briefly ran a pair of Caviar Blacks in RAID 0 on the Intel SataII headers - just to see how fast they'd go - and got 6.2. Fun and very fast but not very practical. I'd love to get an SSD for my boot disk but money's too tight to mention :(

That option to delete all previous records should come in handy - I've always delved into the Windows folders and deleted the old files manually before now.

I wonder if the 10,000RPM 'Raptors still score 5.9?

Personally I just modify the ratings so that they all score 7.9 anyway. Muhaha. :shuriken:

nope, tried that and still showing as 5.9, I looked at the view performance details event log and there are a 577 events all saying a mixture of warning/critical and error. Is this normal ?
