Wireless issue

I've been having issues with my new desktop's wireless today since firing it up. I'm getting less than 20kbps download speed when my ususal is between 1.8mbps and 2mbps. The desktop will not reach the router for a wired connection so I can't run a test as such. The signal is reading full and the drivers are apparently updated to the most recent.

I'm not sure if it's the wireless card that's causing the issues or not. All the laptops are speed testing correctly but the desktop is running very slowly. Seeing as it's for gaming... Updating MMO's is going to be a ridiculous process.

The card is an Edimax EW7612pin wireless pci-express adapter.

Can anyone offer advice, please?

those speeds are extremely slow, have you screwed in the antennas which are in your welcome pack?

Sorry for asking, but have you connected the antennas,if so try moving them to different positions.

Uh to improve speeds, what i did was start a download on steam, and then start moving the antennas, very slowly though, and keep moving in a direction that improves the speeds

Okay, It was a space issue. I'd put the computer behind the TV with the antennae facing the wall and it seems it was blocking the signal significantly. I pulled the desktop out and faced them toward the router and it's downloading at full speed.

If I didn't have a dog it could sit next to the TV, but she'll chew the wires if I leave it out lol.

Thanks for the advice.
