I was surprised to see that nobody here seems to have started a World of Warcraft thread so I thought I would.

I'm a casual player these days but I used to be a semi-hardcore raider that almost cost me my degree! (whoops!)

Got a few characters on (EU) Bronze Dragonflight Alliance side

(alt 1) Baelnor - 80 Night Elf Priest - Holy/Disc
(alt 2) Aerie - 80 Night Elf Warrior - Prot/Fury
(alt 3) Mudgaard - 70 Human Death Knight - Frost/Blood
(alt 4) Jaen - 70 Draenei Hunter - Surv
(alt 5) Haeros - 16 Draenei Shaman - Ele

Like I said, I used to play a lot more, a recent return of a few good friends to the game (RL friends ) have prompted a fresh return for me. We're levelling characters from 1 (hence the shaman) and the other guys also have characters around 70 so we're about to start levelling through the WotLK content (will be the 4th time for me but it's less arduous with friends).

Anyone else here playing WoW?

Used to, dont anymore, the whole Gear score and raid requirements people use to put out for an easy ride ruined it for me. Like Naxxramas, the entry level raiding content at WotLK launch and people are asking for players with gear 2 tiers higher than you get there to raid it with them...

And people 'needing' on gear they dont need in heroics etc just because they can and with cross realm dungeons now there is nothing you can do about it and they know it. If someone goes around needing anything and everything on your server for specs they'll never have soon they get known and blocked. If someone does that in a group with people from other servers, you cant do crap about it, so that kind of ruined heroics for me...

played the trial for WoW and i didn't like it to be fair, but there are just far too many kids and hackers and things in the game as SWeeny says expoloits galore! i prefer to play lesser known MMO's currently playing 2 Runes of Magic and GodsWar.

Yeah, I tried the WoW trial briefly (a friend at work was trying to persuade me to have a go), however, I didn't really like it, and someone sent me a duel invite when I was level 2 and hadn't even worked out what keys did what and that annoyed me - I declined of course, I did actually play it til the trial ran out, but just didn't suit me.

Went and played EQ2 again

I used to play it but quit to due to the same reasons as Sweeney. Its the gear scores are getting ridiculous, you can go on holiday for two weeks and suddenly everyone has gone from T7 through T8 and onto T9. The days when an epic was really an epic are long gone and you can tag along through 20 HC runs and more or less get yourself the best gear in the game from the vendor - what's the point!

No doubt I'll be lured back with the new content in Cataclysm to play with RL mates but no guarantees how long I'll stick around for.

Tried wow did not like it.
Just dose not feel right at all.

Played and still playing FFXI now for over 5 years (Has not ruined my life, work as done that for me with all these night shift and weekend works)
Played guild wars, but got bored of that pretty fast, but it was a decent game, just never got into it relay.

I think I'll be tempted back once my new PC arrives. A RL friend is playing through and I haven't played - at all - for the better part of two years. I avoided while at Uni and then stupidly decided to play it when I was doing my ACA instead... Oops. That was dumb, considering I could have been sacked for failing exams! However, I got through then gave up, simply because the raiding schedules are obscene. It was like having a second job. Hoping I can avoid the raiding. I have a couple of 70s on EU Alonsus, I am not sure whether I will return there or quit for another server....

played mage since beta & ive always been in endgame raiding content, tried many other mmo's that have released since but i always end up back on WoW because nothing else comes close if im going to be honest. Got many, many level 80 characters but i dont really bother with most of them, i'll always favour my little gnome mage!

I used to play a level 80 blood elf paladin (protection) on Mazrigos EU but after I changed my I.P. address from dynamic to static so that I could play dawn of war soulstorm online it blocked my connection to the world of warcraft. I'd been thinking of quitting for a while though so it wasn't a huge dissapointment at the time.

I used to play quite a bit, but only got 1 level 80 character, and it took long enough to get that .
Not playing much at the moment though, waiting for Cataclysm to come out

Im on Kor'gall at the moment, just playing a bit to pass time ready for Cata.

The contrast of horde to alliance is unbelieveable;

You go into Orgrimmar and theres about 100 horde on bank roof etc, go into stormwind/ ironforge and theres about 6 people on screen maximum at any one time lol.

They even have lazy scammers on there:

I dont think they're trying hard enough to mask the fact its a scam... not worth my time going on there to give false login details....

FFXI player here, soon to be FFXIV. I know many of you know have heard that FFXIV has alot of bad reviews at the moment but I hope that the game does improve.

Join a guild and make some friends, it's the best part of the game.

just got back on wow after 6 months away and im going to hang about to have a look at cat, but as soon as The Old Republic (Starwars fanboi) arrives i will be dumping it for good, and amount of time ive lost to this game is crazy, currently playing horde on Outland PvP

i play this game mainly, i have 2 lvl 80 chars a resto shammy and retri paladin on runetotem, but runetotem server is being swamped with italian and its annoying as hell because most of the trade chat is all in italian lol

Taking a while to get used to the talent tree and ability changes its brought :s
