What method are you using to connect to the internet? and please go to speedtest.net and tell us your results

im got the following:
ping: 525ms
0.20mbps
0.36mbps

is that bad?

Also, this was done while uploading a long youtube video sooo.... dont know if that effects it?

Make sure you don't have any web pages downloads/uploads going when you do the speedtest.net test. Also, make sure nobody else in your house is accessing the web at the same time, so that you get a true figure of your speed.

I'm assuming that as you are in Chester your broadband provider is not Virgin , who is your provider ,my parent and inlaws are both in Chester and using Sky (via BT network) the maximun they can achieve is 3-4 meg ..... although a lot faster than you are getting ATM.

If you are with Sky may I suggest a phone call to them , did this in the past to find out that my inlaws had a limit placed on the download speed , just took them a couple of clicks to get it reinstated

do you have the antennas screwed in at the back? and you should be using wired at that kind of distance

speedtest has been very unreliable for me of late, it gives me a false reading every time I use it for some reason. I am lucky if it shows me a quarter of what I should be getting. you might want to test your speed using several speed testing sites then average the results out.

Try a few different servers and make sure nobody is using the internet while you are testing it.

It is possible you are being speed limited by your isp because you have downloaded alot of stuff recently, sometimes if your address uses too much internet (even on 'unlimited' packages) you can be knocked down to a very slow speed. Has this been a consisten problem?

Do you have other computers/smartphones to test the speed? If you can get normal speeds on those then try a wired connection.
