I backed the game back in alpha and have a Lifetime expansion pass for it, so will be getting this. Loved the early game back in the 80's+
However, I won't be playing until I get my PC from PCS which I'm currently waiting for (30 days now) -- 5600x + 3080 -- Can't wait for both the game...
I tend to open mine every 6 months at least, I try for 4 months though if possible -- as we don't have carpets in our house, no pets / smokers etc it's fairly clean in side (yes there is some dust). the fans are the worse and I tend to just get a few cotton buds and wipe them clean.
As for...
you have a 1080TI card right? doesn't that card have the following ports?
1 x DVI
1 x HDMI
3 x DP
The two monitors - what connections do they have? Have you tried DVI from the card to HDMI on the monitor?
Also, the monitors, if they have more than one connector type (dvi + hdmi) check to see...
I heard that the TI release isn't far off -- do we have a "rough" idea how much more it will cost? e.g. 100 quid? since the 3090 is about 6-700 quid more.
Also is a 3080TI better than the 3090?
Sorry (fairly new to the latest stuff). I'm currently waiting for a 5900x and 3080 build (about 30WD...
Ahh, was unaware of this, though that does sounds daft as the upgrade in windows would also probably mean your getting a new PC - I have a couple of OLD win7 PCs in house that when they finally die I was hoping to transfer the key to a new machine.
If you have a label on your Win 7 box with the window key on it (or you have the key elsewhere), then I believe you can also transfer that key to a windows 10 box and install windows 10 using that key (you can with win 8.1, so guess it's the same for 7), so could also save you some money.
Saying that, you don't need a MS Account for Windows 10, you can set it up without one. So what are the transfer options for this. Also if you do go with a MS account, can you have more than 1 windows assigned to it (e.g. 3 pcs in household assigned to one account).
Excellent video - does indeed show the issue and the fan changing speed. When you contact them, point them to the video as well, then they can see the issue them selves - either point them to the post if on phone, or the URL if email.
Good luck with that. Would be good if you can update us on...
Ahh, so not an "official" announcement somewhere. Yes I've also been watching this thread as I'm about 28 days now for a 5900 and 3080 build. I thought the 4-5 months was from this point. Hopefully things will start to pick up soon, but given all the world events. I'm not so sure. At this rate...
Can't access that video :(
I take it you removed the case fan connections then so should only be left with PSU / CPU / GPU fans running, by all means with the side off, you should be ok for 10 mins etc for quick testing.
Yes, if you now think 99% it's the PSU, contact PCS - though it might be...
It's a strange noise. :(
If you open the side of it and try and listen to where the noise is coming from, e.g. top, bottom - might be better to work out if it's e.g. the cooler fan or the psu.
One other suggestion I can think of is to open the case. disable the CASE fans (the back / front /...
Yep - Happy New year all, now the fireworks have stopped I can finally go to bed - I'm so old, hate the noise nowadays. Were we really that bad when we were young?
Anyway, all the best for the new year and here's to getting stock of the 3080's :)
Not so... you are limited to 2 hours of "playing" -- the problem I find once is I had trouble running the game and didn't even get to play it after about 1.5hrs trying however it's still recorded as "played time", then refunded. but yes, only 2 hours. However I personally like steam as well...
My old dead PC seem had a very good case and found very little dust in there, I open them up at least 2-3 times a year and clean them out. A general wipe of the filters, and around the case, then cotton buds on the fans. I've never really gotten to the point of needing a major blow out. We don't...
@AgentCooper I was thinking the same reasons, especially about the static, but if holding 1ft away, is that a problem, wouldn't the static be on the dryer, and for heat, if the PC is off at the time, again does a little heat for a minute or two matter?
OK guys n gals quick "PC cleaning" question. I was telling the better half about the two linked products and buying something that blows air for 50 quid sounds a lot of money (I know they are others, but not looked into them). She pulled out a draw a hair dryer, and asked... "Why not use that on...
I'm mainly a PC K&M gamer, so never really used that peripheral before, however if you're coming from a console background, why not buy a controller for the PC?
I like the sound of these air cleaners, and might invest in one to look after my new beast... At the moment every 6 months I open up our PCs and with cotton buds clean the fans... The case I have for my (now dead PC) did a good job at keeping the dust out in general, but we now have about 4 PCs...
