Can confirm that the latest RMA came back with a new backplate and screen so the issue has been resolved. Also, the system now seems to function as normal. The technician had reported that "Initially installing Windows had developed a flaw that caused the processor to lock at 0.4 GHz". System...
Each time I've gotten an RMA back its been received in a smaller box with some bubble padding inside, that's packed into a larger box with some styrofoam spacers inside. Its a good system, essentially the PC is suspended within the first box with the bubble stuff, and then the box itself is...
Yeah thats good I guess, it should take that long to see the issues arrise. It sucks that it's come to this as I do appreciate the sincerity of PCS but in this case its a bit too much and hopefully they'll get that and concede a refund.
Yeah, it's quite disappointing, but more now I'm getting a little miffed as really for this price tag none of this stuff should be happening. Especially poor RMA checks. @SpyderTracks , thanks, and no the box is in perfect condition, which I didnt notice until after we finished the telephone...
Hi all, I'm a bit at my wits end with this situation. Granted a preface saying that all of the staff at PCS are very nice as friendly on the phone, albeit I am not sure this extends to the RMA engineers. I bought a Recoil series 15.6 laptop in May 2021. The laptop worked great despite a few...
UPDATE to anyone reading this. I fixed the audio issue by going to "Change system sounds", (legacy settings) right clicking the speaker and going to properties, then in the advanced tab, I changed 16 bit 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) to 24 bit 48000 Hz (Studio Quality). Much louder and the audio...
Thanks for the reply, I can see now its sort of etched into the black chassis and quite difficult to read but it says TongFang for sure, and Model No. GM5OW (I think, definately the GM5 part). I still cant find this in the model drop down list on the Clevo site.
Many many thanks for the reply, Its quite late here so I'll get to work on this tomorrow and get back to you. Starting with control center, I had seen a similar thread where someone suggested the sticker underneath the laptop and trying to find the model number but Ive exhausted that list and I...
Hi all,
I have a Recoil series laptop, specs below, and I'm trying to make some driver updates / program updates in attempts to restore what I remember as "good sound quality" from when I first purchased my laptop a year ago. The speakers are really quiet, compared to a low end dell notebook...
Thanks for the words. I definately feel like PCS are one of the better companies and they seem to care about their products, and employ nice people who seem to be hobbyists. I enjoy talking shop with the technical support. Both time's I've called, the different opperators told me that they...
Update: I spoke on the phone with someone from PCS. They understood the issue and he said he was going to chat with the design department about it and get back to me with any info possible. He and I both dont think it can be swapped out or anything as its part of the chassis design.
Long story...
Also, I've just done the same, popping off the key cap, and I have another issue. As I type I slide my fingers around and that means sometimes only hitting the corner of a key. Look at the larger white plastic piece that allows the key cap to clip in, and depresses causing the 'circuit to close'...
Hey, thanks so much for the in-depth investigation. I too initially had a look a couple of weeks ago at the underlying mechanism, just not in detail like this. This is a major bummer, even since you mentioned the issue a few days ago, I've tried half focusing on pressing the bottom half of the...
Its exactly that and as youve said in your previous comment. Each key has to be hit on the lower half or directly in the center. Bit of a poor design... The back tracking is what kills it for me. Constantly reviewing the text. This comment took me about 3 minutes to write lol.
Is there any kind...
Lol jesus christ. I admire the commitment to a mobile entertainment system! I got this one for that reason exactly. I have a custom tower at home that is beastly, and I regularly take the train from France to England to visit family and am just sitting there for 2 hours with civ 6 running at low...
I think thats it. Its just the key travel. Its a pain in the ass as I dont use it mostly at a desk. I don't get the whole mechanical keyboard thing. It is a nice keyboard and like you said the RGB control is really nice, just that key travel does my head in also. I'm sure its just me and I have...
And funily enough I had the XPS 15 also!! I loved that keyboard although there wasnt a numpad. My fingers were sliding all over the place! I'm sure I would have made Mavis Beacon proud.
My issue though is the other end of the cable! From Laptop port to power block its like at most 80cm. just touches the floor if I'm using the laptop in bed. Guess I gotto just hit the gym to make it more easy to handle :sneaky:
Yeah its hard to tell if its just me or the keys themselves.
Its not like if i intentionally press the 'a' key for exanple 100 times, it wont give me 100 'a's. Its just when actually typing it seems semi u responsive. Like if i could increase its sensitivity....
Anyway, thats for the note. Ill...
