Hi all,
I have a Recoil series laptop, specs below, and I'm trying to make some driver updates / program updates in attempts to restore what I remember as "good sound quality" from when I first purchased my laptop a year ago. The speakers are really quiet, compared to a low end dell notebook given to me by work. I can barely hear dialogue in shows when doing anything but sitting in a quiet room.
So I thought maybe there was so audio booster I had accidentally uninstalled. I know the laptop came with some THX software which was still there and thought maybe it could use an update, so I went to the tech support page, downloads, and windows 10 and downloaded a bunch of stuff that was dated around the purchase date of the laptop, as well as two listed control center packs "ControlCenter_3.1.35.0_W10.zip" - 11-11-2021 & "w10_Control Center.zip" - 19-04-2021.
Before I got to messing around with the "w10_Audio.zip", I went to try and open one of the Control center setup files. My stupid Norton quarantined a bunch of stuff normally found in ProgramFiles\OEM\ (Where Control Center is usually), and I couldnt get them back from quarantine. I stopped all antivirus services and tried the setup again and was met with "uninstall.dat not found". It was one of the files quarantined. So I deleted the now half-empty OEM folder from program files, in hopes the setup wouldn't try to uninstall a program that wasnt there anymore and could skip to the install, but the setup now just flashes and dissapears. I can't get it to open no matter what I do.
TLDR; Although this started as an audio problem, Im now focusing on getting the Control Center back. Does anyone know how I can get an install only setup to run?
