    PCSPECIALIST RTX 3080

Congrats :) You must be proper buzzing. Hoping mine will be soon, onto 18 WD now. That said, when I ordered I fully expected it to be sometime in early November but seeing all these updates from similarly specced machines keeps getting my hopes up

PCSPECIALIST Computer Desk that will look good in the lounge

Hey all. I have a new 3080 PC on order, but I'm stuck with an ancient 23" non-gaming monitor. I want to upgrade, but I'm not able to fit anything bigger in my existing computer desk. The tower, a Fractal Define7 XL, isn't going to fit underneath either so I need a new desk. My computer lives...

    PCSPECIALIST RTX 3080

I'm on 14 now. I did get briefly excited at the quick turnaround times mentioned above, but I suppose it depends on the availability of specific parts that will vary from build to build.

What what whattt? I'm on 12 WD. Was managing quite nicely with tempered expectations until I read this :ROFLMAO:

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks Darton. I think I'm about ready to pull the trigger on this build then :) Using my old PC as a NAS of sorts is definitely something I might look into in the longer term, especially given how expensive an actual NAS is.

Do you reckon it's worth me sticking a couple of extra fans in the spec from the get-go?

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

I've been looking at online storage too, Backblaze B2 is the one most seem to recommend. I've not heard of the ASUS one so I'll have a look at that. Reckon I have about 1.5TB of truly critical data.

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

It is a lot, which is why I'm sweating :ROFLMAO: As soon as I've got the spec for this PC sorted and paid for I'm spending what is left on another drive! That said, all the truly important stuff is backed up, family photos, documents, my entire 4,000+ CD collection ripped to FLAC (which took...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks Darton. I currently have 2 x 10TB and a 4TB in my current setup, which is almost at capacity and I have about 15TB of data not backed up, so I'll need to invest in a couple more drives soon. I also have another 4TB, a 2TB and a 1TB that I've had to take out due to lack of space. The 2TB...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Hey all. I sat on the above for a while, whilst I ummed and arred about the cost. Now I have a bit more money I can go ahead, and I've upped the spec slightly - changed the RX3070TI to a 3080. With that in mind, is everything else still ok with this build, for example the cooling now that I've...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks all. My computer desk is an enclosed space with a back panel so the above wouldn't work. It's a lovely piece of furniture but comes from a time when large screens weren't that large!

Thanks Scott, but those are wayyyyy too big for my desk. 27" is the absolute biggest I can accomodate.

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

What monitor would you recommend for the above? Obviously I want something that's great for gaming, but I do a ton of work on my PC too. I work from home full time and I'm always working in Excel spreadsheets, VBA, databases etc, so it has to be something that will work well for office use too...

He also says it here "Included accessories are minimal, as we would expect on a budget level motherboard, but the basics are covered.". These sites have a different definition of what is 'budget' compared to the average Joe though, as they're dealing with components that range from the cheap to...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks Scott. The review was here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-tuf_gaming-x570_plus-wifi-motherboard,6273.html Happy with the reassurance provided though so thanks for that, and for your help in general. I'm excited about the prospect of the new system, if slightly daunted by the...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks a lot for the helpful explanations, Scott. The money I save on the network card pays for the 2nd SDD, pretty much :) Is the 3070 ti a good choice? I was reading some reviews last night and they were rather lukewarm to say the least, both in terms of comparison to the closest AMD card...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks Steve, Scott and Martin. Some more questions Scott, if you don't mind :) The difference between the two cases is only £25 or so - it seems the one you've selected only supports four drives and I already have six or seven. The Fractal case supports up to 14, if I'm reading that right...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks Steve. That was an oversight on my part, getting mixed up with the serial numbers. 5900 is what I was aiming for, but based on cost/need the 5800X seems a better balanced option. This is stretching the budget a bit, but it seems an all round strong build that will stand me in good stead...

PCSPECIALIST Non-Gaming PC that will allow easy upgrade to Gaming PC in the future

Thanks very much for the advice on this posted above. I've been mulling it over for a while and there doesn't seem that much difference price wise between this and a higher spec option. So, how about this? Case FRACTAL MESHIFY 2 LIGHT TEMPERED GLASS Processor (CPU) AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12 Core...
