Okay. Tnx for all the help. Whilst a 1000w PSU seems overkill to me I appreciate that it will allow me to upgrade later and it keeps me under £1500 so i'll accept your judgement on that and the cooler. Am gonna keep the fans though as i'm convinced a few extra fans running will allow me to keep...
Gone almost exactly with all the advise above. Maybe all of it. Even got the grandson onside with AMD over Intel. (Gave him the "you don't have to play on it if you don't want" pep talk) This is where i'm at.

I'm pretty much sold on this build but one more question if i may bother you just a bit longer.
It's mostly been answered above but I justy want to check.

The only extra I could consider above this cost is going with the Corsair AF120 extra fans if they're much better quality. So much for my £1200 quid budget but i'm like a kid at Christmas going through this :D

This is all really helpful but I'm 65 so not concerned about upgradeability as such lol. I know how to upgrade a RAM stick and even swap over a PSU but thats about it so im more concerned that it will last at least 3 or 4 years.

crikey ... my choices are from a list of "minimums" from my grandson but i'm more inclined to listen to you guys on here than to a
12 year old so I guess i'll take another look at the previous one and tinker with that.
Hi still messing about trying to get a new PC that will satisfy my grandson. He insists in Intel and has given me minimum specs. He plays COD, League & Fortnight mostly. My only requirement for myself is that it's a reasonably quiet case.

He plays fortnight and COD when hes here when its just me I play football manager and total war games. Other than that i just use it for email, reading the news and some internet shopping. Monitor is 165hz. Budget is around £1200 but can go slightly over.
