ANd just to add to this - sometimes a message pops up saying 'no signal detected' (after it's gone black) but also if you have the menu options up (on the monitor - using the buttons) - that also disappears. It fully goes black if you see what I mean.

The downloads section (from Tech support) only lists drivers. The control centre has 'Flexikey' and 'LED Keyboard' but nothing that I can see about changing the Fn stuff.

When you say 'expose' I presume I will need a screwdriver etc? And will the fact that it has an OS on it screw with anything at all? (e.g. you say boot into windows and go to storage manager - but I will actually have two 'windows' installed in the laptop if you see what I mean?)
