Ok, so i've reseated the drives and done all the AMD recommended updates via the installer. I can't see any minidumps, which i'll take as a good. thing. Everything is working fine right now so i will monitor it and come back if there are further issues. thanks again for helping me out. Fingers...

Almost (but not really) the best thing about it is how pleased my other half is. She's so over the moon about how much better it looks than the old PC that my pseudo-guilt about spending so much money on it has been pretty much entirely negated. Everyone's a winner.
