Although this is a popular opinion, some opinions in this very forum differ, saying that the 8GB, in the long run, will add longivity to the laptop.
I'm wondering if low voltage = lower temperature.
If you want a laptop for your usecl case to be relevant in 4 or 5 years, you should look at best CPU, reasonably fast SSD (NVMe) and most upgradable RAM, though I don't think you'll need more than 32gb in 5 years.
GPU is indeed only a 'nice-to-have' in this case, and imo is even optional, as...
Okay okay, that last question was a bit too boring, even for me :D .
On the flipside, I pulled the trigger. It took a while, but I went all in and got the Vyper 17 with RTX2070 Super. It was eventually an obvious choice to get such a laptop, as it's the only one that could have this config, yet...
I just went off the phone with PCS-NL.
The representative couldn't tell me if the 2060 is the refresh version, but if @cjohob had confirmation from them, I think it should be sufficient.
Regarding RAM speed: They "recommend" 2666MHz speeds, as this gave the most stable performance in their...
So after another day of pondering and valuable insight here, I've again come to a new shortlist! Hurray! but we are getting close!
I can call PCS tomorrow with a few questions, but maybe I can already ask for information here. I do apologize if this information is readily available in other...
Maybe I'm simple: you mean if my GPU can't go above 144 fps, there's no need for a 240Hz monitor?
I found this, so I guess you're right...

my point exactly :ROFLMAO: You can't tell if a laptop problem appears more because the laptop is indeed problematic, or just a lot more popular and the problem ratio is the same with other brands.
Good point, but then where oh where can we get proper benchmarks and impartial reviews? 😭😭😭😭
I've checked notebookreview forever, it makes my brain hurt. It takes forever to navigate it to a meaningful review, and they are overly inlove with Razer.
I see that now, so it's an option, but it means I need to sit and wait until the stock is available. who wants to sit and wait? :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for the feedback. I'm already 2 weeks into this search, comparing and looking and pondering about 5 hours a day. It really is summed up by "I love my...
Alright, so here are my conclusions so far, and perhaps followup questions:
I hope I'm not too boring :P
1) The Clevo vs. TongFeng discussion is not interesting to me anymore. Both get raving and appalling reviews, just like any other manufacturer. Some will be very happy with their purchase...
This is true, but non-issue if I'm satisfied with 2060... am I satisfied with 2060?
2070 provides ~+10% in benchmarks (https://technical.city/en/video/GeForce-RTX-2070-mobile-vs-GeForce-RTX-2060-mobile), which should be a no-brainer, but the heat and fan noise to go with it deter me.
I would've...
I had a Clevo between 2009 and 2015, which was an awesome machine, but it weighed like the moon, was very loud in idle, and had its other share of problems. The most annoying one was a dead battery, which would cost at the time €200 to replace.
Which of the chasis here is a clevo?
This is excellent information. I followed your thread about this some days ago. I know we're talking about "the cheapest possible gaming laptop", but having these things not working out of the box is a bit baffling. No wonder every second review port I read here starts with "I really love this...
Could anyone confirm what I'm thinking?:
Vyper is the chinese chasis from Tongfeng.
Defiance is from Taiwanese Clevo (PC50D*). Is that the only reason why the Defiance is heavier, but costs the same?
