You can. The way this works is that there are a certain number of pixels on your screen denoted by the resolution (1920x1080) and 2560x1440 for 1440p.
Playing at 1080p on a 1080p native means each pixel is doing one thing.

I might suggest this then - I don't know nearly as much about monitors as others so I'll let other people advise you on those, but for UWQHD this is a good build
