After some great advice from the PCS support team, the BIOS update has been completed without further ado.
The PC boots as it did before, going through the PCS boot-up screen and then onto the Windows log-in screen.

I have just updated the BIOS on my ASUS® PRIME B760-PLUS D4 from v1002 to v1663 (14 updates later) following instructions from PCS.
When the update had finished I exited the BIOS screen but the pop-up said "Do you wish to exit without making any changes to the BIOS".
Before this, I was in a loop...
I accidentally caught the on/off button on the PC case and somehow caused the system to corrupt big style.
At switch on, the Windows page stated "We could not connect to your account" and said re-connecting may fix this....... it didn't.
Whenever I re-booted, the system didn't recognise any...
Hi Gelbs, I went for the Audigy FX, and is great for the money.
The main reason was so that I could connect my Beyerdynamic 600ohn headphones. The card easily drives them.
What did you go for in the end?
