Hi,

As title suggests I have recently found out about the problems with the 14th gen intel cpu's, I myself have a I7 14700K and am looking for some advice on how to negate any of the problems with them from occurring with my setup. I have watched various videos which tell me how to update the bios etc but I'm looking for any additional information or recommendations anyone has.

And is the BIOS update as straightforward as plugging a usb with the firmware into the bios port and holding the button?

Thanks in advance!

Is this for a Pcspecialist system? If so any BIOS update needs to have their approval so best to call them and they can guide you.

No it's not. There is typically a BIOS feature that you must use to flash the BIOS. If you don't know how to flash your BIOS then you really must ask PCS for detailed instructions, not only to ensure that you retain your warranty but also to ensure that you don't brick the PC.

I have just updated the BIOS on my ASUS® PRIME B760-PLUS D4 from v1002 to v1663 (14 updates later) following instructions from PCS.
When the update had finished I exited the BIOS screen but the pop-up said "Do you wish to exit without making any changes to the BIOS".
Before this, I was in a loop between the BIOS screen and the PC rebooting, hence my choice to exit without changes.

Curiosity got the better of me, and when checking the BIOS version, it was indeed now v1663.
This is the first time I have ever updated the BIOS on any machine :)

As long as you follow the instructions and don't rush, a BIOS update is a simple process. The biggest fear is a power cut during the update, that could brick the PC. It's one of the reasons my PC is powered through a UPS.

After some great advice from the PCS support team, the BIOS update has been completed without further ado.
The PC boots as it did before, going through the PCS boot-up screen and then onto the Windows log-in screen.

Thanks again to the PCS support team (y)
