I’ve not looked into it since these posts as in practice I never use the card reader.
Have you tried following the steps in the earlier posts to see if Realtek have released an updated driver that fixes the issue?
If you don’t want to buy 3D mark you can just download the demo version for free on Steam. It still gives you access to Firestrike and Timespy benchmarks.
Unfortunately the issue is back today. Suspecting it is actually the card reader causing the problem I disabled it and this has stopped the hardware warnings arising.
I can't find any updated drivers for this so will just leave the card reader disabled for now (hardly ever use it anyway) until...
I had a WHEA warning spamming error code 17, a few times per minute. Turned out to be a faulty network driver. The problem has gone now i have updated the driver. Might be worth reading through the steps taken in my thread relating to this and performing similar steps if you want to troubleshoot...
Please find attached. The offending Root Port is #15 - 06b6 so perhaps the issue is with either the PCIE Card Reader or the GbE controller? I think the latter is the LAN connector?
Thanks for the suggestion. There were 3 updates suggested (per screenshot attached). I've installed the WiFi device and bluetooth ones. Updating these two hasn't stopped the event 17 issue.
Unsure about the UHD graphics driver as it mentions it will overwrite the OEM provider graphics driver...
Annoyingly for some reason my power settings "forget" I have turned PCI Express power savings off and revert back to the problematic setting after I have shut down and restarted. Any idea why that would happen?
I'm having issues with event ID 17 warning spamming in my event viewer. I first noticed it from HWinfo as it was capturing the errors at the bottom.
I have found the problematic device in device manager (see screenshot) and tried to get windows to automatically update the driver but it says it...
Thought some people may find the following review helpful. It is of a laptop built using the same chassis as the Elimina 17”. It’s spec, particular the CPU, is inferior to the Elimina but goes into quite a lot of detail around the GPU and the look and feel of the machine that should be...
Yes UK based. I had it delivered back today 4 days after they had received it on Monday, so very good service I think. The tech I spoke to did say they would give it a top priority. The RMA report said they had stress tested it overnight so it sounds like they checked it thoroughly!
Received my laptop back today, just 4 days after PCS received it so pretty good service I think. They confirmed the issue was a bad thermal paste application. They've repasted it and now temps are under control. They still get quite high - in the 80s - but level off before getting into the 90s...
OK, so now have my Elimina 17" back after the RMA. They confirmed the issue was thermal paste application, redid it and now temps are under control. Still gets hot - into the 80's but now stays out of the 90s even on performance preset!
Here is my revised score, a bit better than last time and...
Thanks, reassuring to hear it is the TIM application that seems the most likely problem. I returned the laptop to PCS on Friday, which they should receive tomorrow, so hopefully will have it back fixed by the end of the week.
Just prepping the machine to send back to PCS and noticed the cores have spiked quite high even when under light load in windows (about 14% CPU utilization). So my hope is it is just a bad TIM application.
Interestingly, I did notice the testing phase against my order stated "testing - problem" at one point. So I do wonder if they had found some thermal issues. The same person did the QC as the testing, looking at my order history.
