£1000 budget pc

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a new pc, with a budget of around £1000 (excluding a monitor, which I already have). I would predominantly use it for gaming (although I know that I can only expect so much on this budget).

I've been reading various reviews but could really do with some advice. Would £1000 be enough to get anything worthwhile? I could go a little above this budget, but preferably not.

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

1k should do you for a decent 1080p system with a good base that will allow upgrades to the GPU to upscale to higher resolutions in the future.

If you do it right (which we will) you put enough into the core platform, and the core PC will last a good 7 to 10 years without needing any upgrades. Then you can just upgrade the GPU when it starts to struggle to a newer more powerful one in 3 or 4 years.

This is a very capable 1080p 144Hz system, the PSU is purposefully oversized to allow for a hefty GPU upgrade down then line when you're ready for a higher resolution screen and GPU. The rest of the platform is very capable and will last a long time:
