That's been coming for a while so not really a surprise.
On a side note: Personally, I don't get out of bed for anything less than 4k these days as I demand the best
(Although I do have a 1440p monitor for streaming and general stuff purposes)

Guess it will take a while to beat Steam's current near 56% of users still at 1080p resolution.

One thing that will keep 1080p relevant is laptops. It doesn't make a lot of sense for a 15" gaming laptop to have more than a 1080p screen, and obviously that makes more sense for laptop hardware to run at appropriate frame rates. On desktop, it is only a budget option now, more for the graphics card than for the actual display...
