3070 would be a waste, never mind the 3070ti. There's no point in over-shooting the GPU as all you're going to be able to do is move sliders to the right that you can't see when gaming anyway. The games you mention won't make good use of over-powering the GPU at 1440p.

With that being said, you may want to upgrade in the future so I would have the cooling & surrounding parts on standby for a more powerful system.

Below is what I would recommend taking everything into consideration. You're going to want to get a 1440p monitor sooner rather than later though. There is a good option on the PCS website right now that will sell out fast.

A balanced build means that none of the components have been downgraded, and no corners have been cut to fit your budget. A good example of unbalanced builds are the majority of 'off-the-shelf' pre-built PCs, which tend to focus on the CPU and GPU, and cut corners on other components such as cooling, motherboard and storage to keep costs down and therefore to stay competitive against the competition.

The build you've specced above isn't balanced as the one specced by Scott above. You've gone for a 2tb 980 pro which is a bit extravagant, and I would not personally recommend using the H100x to cool the 12700k as it's quite an old cooler now and the 12700k is a very hot CPU.

All somewhat of a moot point though as we will help you spec something once the new CPUs are available in the configurator on Thursday.
