3080 Gaming Build

Hi everyone. I've put together a build which will be primarily used for playing the latest games at the highest settings. Not really bothered about downgrading anything to save money in this case, only if there's anything you spot that's totally unnecessary, although I don't think there should be. Already have extra storage drives which is why I only opted for the OS drive in the build here. Only thing I was personally not sure about was the Motherboard but I believe this one supports the 3600 RAM speed and should be fine as far as I'm aware. Please let me know if there's any incompatibility issues (although I think the configurator would've mentioned them?) or considerations you think I should make.

Budget is around £2,500 and monitor is 4K 144Hz.
Looks like a pretty much perfect spec! Well done! I'd personally go for the 5000X as it comes included with 3 nice RGB fans (which can be turned off if they aren't your thing) and ample airflow. If you're worried about airflow at all, you can always buy the 5000D front panel and pop it on yourself. It's £15 from Corsair directly I believe.

The only other thing I'd comment on is the use of 32GB, for a plain gaming build (ie no streaming or video editing for YouTube) 16GB should be ample, although you clearly have the budget for 32GB so there wouldn't exactly be any harm in leaving it in.

Thanks for that recommendation, I've changed the case to the 5000X as I do like that one better! Will this one be fine with the airflow? As for the RAM I may do a bit of light streaming at some point and yeah I just feel like going all out with the 32GB anyways.

Oh and one more thing - I noticed there's an ASUS version of the 3080 available but it's like £150 more. What sort of differences would that have? Guessing it's not worth it?

The 5000X will be absolutely fine with the components you’ve chosen, I have the 4000X (which has slightly less airflow than the 5000X) and I’m not experiencing temperature issues. And as @JUNI0R rightly says, the other front panel is available ridiculously cheap if you wanted to try that out at a later date.

The Asus card will have slightly higher binned components in there but the tiny difference in performance is not enough to warrant the extra £150. Stick with the standard for the best value 🙂👍
