4070ti install power cables

My question relates to the power cables. My current GPU looks to have an 8pin and a 6pin, whereas the 4070 has two 8 pin PCIE cables. I'm a noob when it comes to builds, but I think I understand the basics. Is the simplest solution to run a separate 8 pin from the power supply? I can see that there is a 6+2 slot on the back of the power unit, would that be suitable?

I'd like to do it myself rather than take it to a local shop, but if I'm biting off more than I can chew then that would be good to know too.

Check the 6 pin is not a 6+2 pin connection, with the 2 pin tied back. Save you running a cable for no reason. But also check the existing cable is not a daisy chain. E.g. single cable from PSU, with two ends to it connected to GPU. You want one cable per port on the GPU.

Thank you, I traced the run back to the PSU and it is only a single cable 😕

Does that suggest a new separate is needed?

Great! I shall dig out the box and see. If not, could you make a recommendation for a good cable, or are they all pretty much the same?

Power cables are specific to the PSU, so you can't just fit any cable.

If you look up the product page on the web, under specifications it will list the cable type

For this model it's Type 4

Then you just need to look up corsair type 4 PCIe 6+2 and you'll get hits from most places

Just additionally, if you look direct on the corsair site, they do do premium cables in different colours at a small premium (you can get these other places like Amazon too)

And it's very worth buying on the Corsair shop on amazon rather than through a marketplace seller, as with any marketplace, there are loads of fakes out there, if the price seems too good to be true, it's likely because it is a fake.

Yeah, I bought individual stranded cables from Amazon, neater than the daisy chain cables that come with the PSU by default.

I bought 2 cables from the Corsair Amazon store and they worked perfectly.

I use a bluetooth mouse and I have noticed a bit of pointer stutter since the upgrade. I've replaced the battery but it is persisting. Any ideas?

Check the antennas are clear of any cables.
