Advice for a novice parent looking to upgrade RAM

Hi,
Sorry to clog up your forum with what's quite possibly a very silly question. I bought my son a gaming PC, spec below. He says he needs more memory and he thinks more RAM memory... A condition of his gift was that he learnt how it works but it's Christmas and I have softened a bit. His set up is detailed below. Is this an easy enough thing to do? Is it likely to be his issue? What should my next steps be? Obviously I am not looking to have anything delivered before Christmas now, it's too late, but it would be nice to give him a card letting him know I have ordered something. Any advice very gratefully received. Thanks in advance,
Vicky

If you register it with PCS, then you can order RAM through them, that way you'll know it's compatible with the system. You just need to call them and have proof of purchase.

You can't fit any RAM, it has to match the RAM you currently have, in frequency, timings and voltage (unless you're fully replacing it).

Either way though, once you've registered, you'll get access to an online account, through there you can order upgrades which PCS can ship to you next day delivery if you want to fit yourself (RAM upgrade is very simple), or you can send the PC back to PCS for them to fit parts.

Registering will also activate your warranty.

If the system is for gaming 32Gb is the optimal RAM amount, but 16Gb will get you by for most lower power games like Minecraft, Roblox, Rocket League, etc. If he's hoping to play more current AAA titles, then 32Gb is definitely beneficial.

Hello,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I bought it second hand unfortunately :( Although I did research what I was buying first.
I will definitely look to get him 32Gb though that's great advice, thank you!

If you bought it second hand the seller should have transferred ownership in which case they would have communicated to you about setting up an account.

If they haven’t I’d strongly recommend going back to them and getting them to do that, otherwise you won’t be able to get any support through PCS

If they refuse to then I would cancel the sale

Unfortunately this forum is only for active pcspecialist customers with an account.
