Advice needed, it's been a while.

There is also a newer "F" version of that panel out that loses the Nvidia module in favour of AMD FreeSync Premium Pro - it also drops down to 165Hz refresh, but it is also cheaper so has that going for it! Also, this may sound strange, but users can also upgrade the firmware on this monitor themselves. Apparently that wasn't a thing you could do on the older version

True, and I was lucky that I got one of the later models with the later firmware...but others who are having issues (such as overly-loud cooling fan) are simply getting them replaced by Dell...and some still come with the old firmware

I think the 'F' version has a smaller, static speed fan too, so that's another positive, if you'd been disturbed by the noisier one in the non-F model (I've not heard mine...or not heard it over the fan in my 5-bay HDD enclosure).

I'd have probably gone for the 'F' version if it wasn't for:
  1. There was a big discount with a Dell special deal - I paid £943 for mine
  2. The 'non-F' has the white aesthetic
  3. The 'F' wasn't announced until about a week after I'd placed my order ;)

Well, PC arrived yesterday and waiting for a weekend setup (computer corner needs a bit of work).

I need to sit on front of an ultrawide to see if it'll work for me before splashing out. Would the DWF work with G-synch, or is that only the DW? Not sure I could handle the white aesthetic.

Yes, it works fine. The dedicated Gsync module is now essentially unnecessary: "Gsync compatible" is all you need.

It works, and it works beautifully :)

Found a brand new AW34DWF on Amazon @ £801 - in the basket before the price changed.
The only downside is the 4hr pixel/panel refresh reminder, but without a doubt the best monitor I've had the pleasure of using.

You can turn the reminder thingy off in the settings, mine automatically does the pixel refresh after I shut down the PC and then after the refresh it goes into sleep until the next day.
