Advice on Office PC Spec

Hi everyone,

I would be grateful for advice on the spec below. Primary use is as an online tutor. I need to have 3 monitors running (4k, 1080p and a 1080p Cintiq 16 Pen Display). I would like to have the ability to update the 1080p monitor to a 4k monitor at some point if (so dual 4k plus the Cintiq). I also tend to have a lot of programs running concurrently.

I will also be using it for some video editing in Premiere Pro and some streaming (not streaming games though).

It would be nice if I could use it for gaming occasionally, but this is not a priority and I am not looking for a high-end gaming machine.

I would especially appreciate advice on cases, power supply and cooling as I essentially know next to nothing about these.

My budget is approximately £1500.

I think your build is a bit unbalanced here: by going full-bore on CPU, RAM and graphics card, you've ended up with not enough budget for power supply and cooling or for a good storage setup.

I'd suggest going down to the 5600X and 16GB of (faster) RAM: this should be plenty for your tasks and the RAM is easily upgradable in the future. I'd then boost the power supply to the 850W RMx model: it's far higher quality, so quieter, more efficient, and you have loads of headroom for upgrades. I'd change the cooler to the CoolerMaster Hyper 212: it's the best cooler under £80 that PCS sells right now and perfectly adequate for the very moderate 5600X. You also probably don't need Windows Professional unless you need specific features. I've suggested upgrading your storage with a very fast boot SSD, a second SSD for games and your current video projects, and a hard drive for bulk storage/finished projects. Finally, I've gone for the motherboard with built-in WiFi rather than the PCIe card. It's exactly the same, just fewer cables inside the case!

All this costs you an additional £1, while significantly improving the build.

Your case, by the way, is absolutely fine.
