Advice on PC spec

Hi folks,

I wonder what people think of this spec for a new PC? I'm looking for as fast a PC as I can get for about £1400 - to do some video editing using PremierePro and some sound recording and music creation (with an external audio interface, bought separately, and eventually sampled sounds). When doing video/photo stuff I tend to have lots of internet tabs open at the same time as well as several bits of software all spread across two monitors.

One other query. Where I live, we sometimes have power cuts - about once a month, often just for less than a minute at a time. Is it worth investing in an uninterruptable power supply to protect the equipment/files in the event of a power cut while I'm working?

Any advice appreciated!

A few things I'd consider.

What DAW are you planning on using? Performance would benefit mostly for multi-core, so a Ryzen CPU would -maybe- be a better option. Keep in mind some audio interfaces might have some driver issues with that, however. Quick search on the Internet and you'll know. You'll lose a little bit of performance for PS and maybe Premiere too, haven't really checked that but I've heard they're optimized for Intel. Haven't noticed anything so far.

32GB is okay if you're not planning on loading lots of libraries/large video files. I've personally gone with 64GB since I work with orquestal libraries and 4K video, and even then, it might not be enough depending on what you want exactly.

Please do invest money for an uninterruptible power supply. It will save you time and money. It will also protect all your gear and you'll have a cleaner audio signal. Furman is a good reliable brand for this.

For storage, find something you like. I use an external HDD for my backups, M.2 SSD for system and programs and another one for my libraries. It's a lot of money but it is well worth it in my opinion.
