Advice please - 1440p build - £2500 budget

Hi everyone, after 8 years my previous PCS PC has decided to finally give up on me, so I feel it's time for an upgrade.

I've been toying with this build for a few days now and would love some feedback on anything I may have skipped over / not allocated enough funds to.

This PC will be used 95% of the time for gaming, due to the limitations of my previous PC there are a lot of newer games I've not been able to play, but generally I play a lot of simulation games (euro truck sim, flight sim, farming sim etc.) as well as MMORPGs & FPS games. Ideally I want to be able to play AAA games at relatively high frames in 1440p but I will be buying a monitor in the near future to go with the PC.

One thing I'm not super familiar with is ray tracing vs rasterization which is something I've been seeing a lot of when weighing up pros and cons between an AMD or NVIDIA GPU.

Any info / advice is welcomed!

Thanks for this, my current monitor is as old as my previous pc so I would be needing to get a 1440p monitor soon after.

Can I just ask about the PSU, my understanding is that the build I posted only needs at 850w PSU, why the change to a 1200w PSU? Just curious as I am a novice!

You’re not designing the PC based on your needs now, but what you may need in 10 years time

OK, when are you planning to buy it? With your current one (1080p @60Hz), a 7600XT is already more than enough.

What's the budget for the new monitor? That DELL is just a decent entry-level 1440p monitor.

At the moment it's around £200 but could stretch to 300+ if I wait a month or so.

Maybe their config tool is wrong then, as it breaks out the external USB and internal USB specs into separate line items...

More explanation may be needed, as they may be being picky over the USB Type-C header not being compatible without an adapter, or they're using one of those headers for something else already?

1 last question to the group as I have just gone to order this but the Gigabyte card is out of stock until the end of the year. What, apart from the ports, are different between the Gigabyte card and the XFX?

The only thing I can see is the Gigabyte is £28 more expensive, has a very small OC added, and is 13mm longer.

But if you’re after a specific model, then order without one and source your own for about £80 less…
