Ahem - Hello! I'm effectively new here.....

Well ironically my last post here I think said something like "I'm back and will be chatting away and being involved again". That was maybe two years ago? I can't remember.....time for a re-introduction.....

Hello, I am NoddyPirate. I started my more serious PC journey (beyond off-the-shelf stuff) here in this fab forum with so many learned folk.

I've done a few upgrades to my original PC spec - two new higher speed NVMe drives to do a better job of fulfilling my boards Gen 3 and Gen 4 capabilities. And added a 4060ti 16GB GPU which was targeted as it's low price and relatively low power meant both my wallet and my original PSU would handle it. Works nicely for my creative stuff alongside some 1080p gaming on my 27 inch curved monitor. Basically every game at max settings without a blink. But also lets me finally get into VR which I had been thinking about for some time. Assetto Corsa Competizione with the Quest 3S (why didn't I just go for the Quest 3 instead???) is great fun and with the Virtual Desktop app on the quest platform I can get nice framerates via AirLInk on high settings without any trouble at all.

Everything is still running cool and happy as it was on day one. The next challenge, one day, will be upgrading my CPU which will then need a new cooler too. I shall be touching up the knowledge here prior to that though!

Anyway - hello (again) all!

Is your overclock holding stable?

Oooh! Good question!!!

No is the short answer. End of last year, or about 2.5 years in, it started to give me trouble and I had to start winding it back. Early this year, just out of lack of time to fiddle with it properly, I reset everything back to default, but I will give it a go and try again after Xmas. I had it set to around 95% of the max I could get before it was unstable, so I have no doubt I could easily squeeze it back to 60 or 70% of where it was. I'll keep you posted!!
