AIO roof mount

I ordered my new PC 3 weeks ago still in testing waiting. Anyway just a quick question about the cpu cooler. I requested for it to be mounted at the roof of the case as an exhaust, but got an e-mail later on telling me it will have to be mounted to the front "due to smashing the motherboard and ram". Not sure exactly how big the asus rog strix X570-F gaming motherboard is the coolermaster masterbox TD500 mesh though. Here is the full specs anyway.

Ah that is a shame. Now im going to be a bit worried about the temps in the case since i didnt get any extra fans and this case doesn't have a rear exhaust installed. Any advice what extra fans i should buy.

Dammit! Sorry @Joeyniple - I had the wrong version of your case - I didn't have the MESH specifictions. It seems it still doesn't support a 280mm rad but will support a 240 or 360mm AIO in the roof:

The H150i seems to be considered one of the best coolers I think (not sure if it is available on PCS mind you - @SpyderTracks might have a better idea?) - you could possibly upgrade to that?

I believe the H150i is only available on HEDT models, but I’m sure if you call PCS or go on the web chat (I would call though if you’re able) they may be able to accommodate you. It’s an absolute monster cooler!

If the suggestion above doesn’t work out and you’re needing a single fan to add as an exhaust, there are millions of options!

This Noctua fan is highly rated for being both quiet and pulling good amounts of air. It’s also very affordable and doesn’t come in that disgusting beige/brown colour combo they normally use 👍

This is their best one, but it’s a bit more premium on the price and sadly it does come in the awful colours 🤢

I have definitely seen someone recently with a H150 on an AMD extreme. I assume they phoned and changed.

I imagine the Strix VRM is too big or something.

Without RGB ram, i can’t think of any other reason, than the Strix being the issue

That's what i was thinking, and looking at the td 500 mesh, it can support a 240mm and 360mm but not a 280mm radiator is a bit odd.

It doesn't seem to be motherboard or component related though - the 280mm roof mount option just doesn't appear in the case specifications. So they don't have appropriately placed mounting holes or summat....

God those fans are hideous :ROFLMAO: was thinking of https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compu...ies-120-mm-case-fan-rgb-led-10203161-pdt.html seem pretty decent?

Ahhhh i misread it. Appears so then yes. A front mount isn’t necessarily bad, especially if pipes are at the bottom - although top is best. I got a phanteks case before and then found out... doesn’t support any roof mount radiator 😢😭😂

Ok im still some what of a noob, had a little look https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/compu...ies-120-mm-case-fan-rgb-led-10179931-pdt.html i guess is a more premium fan?
I’m being pretty subjective. So the way it is is...
Best RGB: QL
Best Performance: ML
Middle ground: LL

The SP is same sort of RGB as the ML, but is out classed by it. The SP is a relatively good performer, but it’s niche is budget in all honesty. I have ML’s and are fantastic, but i keep my lights static most of the time, so ML is far better choice than QL or LL for me

Do PCS mount the AIO to the roof as standard if it can be done. From what I have seen and read that seems to be one if the better places.

I have the plain old SP120's on my 220T. If you can keep them below 1,000RPM then they really are pretty quiet and are pretty unnoticable to me. However I am quite sure that the big advantage of the higher grade options is that they will stay quiet through most, if not all, of the their useful range.

But it also depends where you put them I would guess. In the rear of a case as an exhaust they will be that bit more difficult to hear when compared to them sitting at the front of the case looking at you like mine do. 👀 (But then, the RGB is soooo pretty..... )

Exactly, a rear exhaust RGB fan is amazing
