Air cooler advice

PCS informed me that they may be able to request their purchasing team to specially order a CPU air cooler. What is considered the best CPU air cooler for the high end CPU's?
Thanks

Depends on the CPU. Probably best to start a new thread and put a suggested system together along with your thoughts about coolers, rather than following on from this one!

Keep in mind these tests were ran in a Meshify 2 (excellent case) with the side panel off. If you're anywhere near this level of CPU I wouldn't consider air at all.

Running is the Meshify 2 is absolutely fine but why the sweet sunny jesus would you run a test with the side panel off to test the viability of an air cooler? No one sane is going to run their computer with the side panel off?

Makes the whole thing completely redundant

Also I'm not even sure how much it would help the performance. You want the case fans helping to push the air through the cooler. In an open case the air will just go around. Very strange testing method.

Most cooler testing is done on a bench, this is actually a bit better as at least it's in a case. It always puts AIOs at a disadvantage and air coolers at an advantage for testing. I used to cite it as irresponsible but I gave up caring after a while as it's how they all do the testing so it's good to measure the difference, in that particular scenario, but people need to consider their individual setups..... the case is paramount.

I've also wondered about the 'open on a bench' testing method. But if everyone does it the same way, it's comparing like to like at least.
You compare AIO results against AIO results, and air cooler results against... As @Scott says, don't compare AIO against air cooler results, because the testing method doesn't produce comparable results.
And if they used a case, which case would they use? It would take an enomous amount of time to do tests in all the cases available.
They do case reviews, so you/we can take their views on airflow into consideration.
