Hi People,

I am configuring a gaming/Video editior/Office computer on PCS that can also handle the new Fortnite creative 2.0 Editor. and other 3D style game editors with ease.

I think I have chosen the Ryzen 9 7900x with geforce RTX 4070 and 64GB Ram, but im a bit stuck on motherboard.

Its either the Asus ROG strix x670E-A gaming WIFI or the Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero.

Clearly the hero is better but at £200 more will I really see a massive benifit? Im not really interested in overclocking just want something solid to run the PC.

I really appreciate your help .

We can't comment on individual components as they all inter relate as a system.

If you can go through the following and update we can advise further

Hi People,

OK so looking to order a PC at PCS that can handle Gaming, (maybe some 4K in the future), video editing, and those 3D game design programs like Fornite creative 2.0/Roblox sudio.

Current Monitor is IIyama 3440x1440 (super wide) running at 144Hz. Will stay with this but might upgrade to higher res in about 12 months.

Not really interested in overclocking but just want a solid PC that can handle most things thrown at it. My budget is around £3K max.

If you can look at the below spec and advise if this is over kill or maybe not enough. Thanks Gary

I think all the X670[E] boards are overkill for your purposes. They're only needed if you have extreme PCIe/USB needs, and it doesn't sound like you do.

Here's what I'd go for in your shoes:

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 4000X RGB TEMPERED GLASS MID-TOWER ATX CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16 Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.7GHz/144MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) Ultimate all-rounder CPU
Motherboard

ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (DDR5, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) Plenty of motherboard for all your needs
Memory (RAM)

64GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 5600MHz (2 x 32GB) AMD Presuming this is needed for the video editing?
Graphics Card

12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 - HDMI, DP, LHR Ideal only because you're editing video...
Graphics Card Support Bracket

NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW) Boot drive
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB INTEL® 670p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 3500MB/sR | 2700MB/sW) Secondary (games?) drive
1st M.2 SSD Drive

4TB CORSAIR CORE XT MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 5000 MB/R, 4400 MB/W) Tertiary (projects?) drive
1st Storage Drive

6TB SEAGATE IRONWOLF PRO 3.5", 7200 RPM 256MB CACHE Bulk storage drive
Power Supply

CORSAIR 850W RMx SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET I might consider 1000W...

Great thanks for the reply really appreciate it.... Like the way it has been upgraded to the top chip at no extra cost.

Question on the Power supply. You metioned you would go for 1000W, Is that just to give headroom or for future exapanding? Was thinking of adding a capture card later but not sure how much power that will take...

Thanks

Not really a capture card. An Elgato 4K60 card, for instance, draws just 6W of power, so that's pretty negligible.

It's more a case of "what if you upgrade the graphics card?" Maybe you won't need to, and maybe 850W will be enough for anything you're going to install, but it's not inconceivable you could get something that needs more, and changing a PSU is a major faff. (I speak from experience!) So, it might be worth spending the extra to get that confidence for the future.
