AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Overheating?

Hi all - two problems I was seeking some help with.

1. My CPU is showing temperatures into the 80s when I'm playing Warzone. On standard usage like internet browsing etc it goes back down to 40-50 pretty consistently. Started relatively recently - though weather-wise it is a lot hotter. Just wanted some thoughts on if this is okay or if I should be tweaking voltages etc?

2. I have an intel AX200 which stopped working for no reason - neither Bluetooth nor WiFi. Two replacements have now been sent but they also didn't work. The card is clearly drawing power as the light comes on. I have tried putting it into the graphics PCI slot (to check it wasn't the slot) but this also hasn't helped. Device isn't listed on device manager at all and I have tried manually installing the drivers myself. Any help would be appreciated.

The AMD site for the 3600 says temps are ok up to 95 degrees so I would guess 80s would be acceptable under load. I assume the cooler is running ok? Have you tried changing fan profiles etc

I would like the temps a little lower personally, how high into the 80s are we talking about? Try a firestrike torture test (3d mark) if you have it and see what the temps spike at.

The non-working Wifi would have me a little worried though. Somethings not right there. How much experience do you have with installing components?

In the device manager is there nothing in there with a yellow exclamation mark?

Around the 82 mark - tends to fluctuate between 75 - 82. I will give firestrike a run tomorrow when I get back from work and record my temperatures throughout.

I've changed graphics cards over before no problem. In addition, when I was moving around the graphics card to test the network adapter in different PCIe slots I was having no problems (with the graphics card). Nothing has come up in device manager, it's like the component just isn't there. Though, interestingly, I just checked and the card has suddenly come back onto device manager, albeit as not connected - this has never happened before. I haven't done anything at all so no idea what could've caused that.

You've used "Show hidden devices" which will show currently installed device drivers for previously connected items.

For 3 of the same card to go down the same route is very strange. I would be tempted to send it back.

Temps of 70s/80s I would say is OK after heavy usage.

@Nursemorph might be able to compare his temps though to give you better insight.

So I don't have Firestrike as it seems you have to buy 3DMark (rather than the basic version) to access it. However, running TimeSpy (with nothing else running), my CPU temps didn't exceed 77 max according to HWM if that's any use

You can install a demo version from steam, the demo button is to the right. Then you can install fire strike for free.

Again, that sounds about right.

Was your fan profile on quiet or was that you turning it up for some flow? Just to give the OP some pointers for the test. They can run TimeSpy as well to see what the results are like.

Thanks for all your input guys - will run the tests this evening. My fan profile hasn't been changed since I got my pc.

As for device manager - previously nothing has come up in hidden devices? Since reinstalling windows I haven't reinstalled the drivers myself and they have suddenly reappeared. Not sure if the time where device install was requested is relevant, but I was just watching some netflix (i.e. not playing around with settings or drivers)

Timespy - mostly in the 60s but spent 1 minute in the 80s, peaking at 84 in the CPU test

Yours is definitely running warmer than the delta but I don't think you're into dangerous territory to be honest.

Played around with the fans profile and I am now running similar settings. Also under-volted by 0.048V after reading around the forums a bit.

Ultimately I am sending back the tower though, had my second video TDR failure yesterday. That, combined with the network adapter issue makes me think that I may just have a janky motherboard.

When it's repaired/replaced I'll implement the same settings though

That definitely sounds like a wise move. Gremlins almost always manifest in the first couple of months, when they do..... it shows signs of getting a melon and it's better to have it remedied straight away.

I've been following this thread, mainly because of the wireless card issue. I agree that sending it back is a wise move. [emoji846]
