I plan on getting a GPU separately -- I was thing of something in line of 2x AMD6900s or 1 x 24G 3090 Nvidia.

I want advice on this intel build; I am planning on buy AMD workstation in the future.

I have choose this build for future proofing, I do not need a 500 series board because i plan on sticking with a I9 10 SERIES.

Good evening. I’m afraid the words ‘future proof’ and ‘Intel’ are not ones that go easily together these days. Any particular reason why you’re looking at buying one Intel system and one AMD? If we could get a little logic behind your reasoning it’d be very helpful.

I was literally going to start by post with the same words regarding a 'future proof' and Intel 🤣

I wanted a system with minimum of 64G Ram, ECC Ram, workstation and have multiple Virtual Machines, but all of that would land up costing £2000 not including a graphics card.

So instead i mad a compromise for something much less, that i can use for work and personal use.

This intel build has no ECC ram but nor did any AMD builds, plus AMD one needs a GPU. I don't like wasting things, so instead of getting a 3900xt with a cheap GPU that would have cost me £1800 I choose this Intel build instead.

I think it is stupid get Intel but like i said i will be get an AMD in the future purely for work.
My current PC is nearly 10 years old, i need a new personal computer.

AMD X570 can take ECC RAM, but you'd have to order it separately and fit yourself.

You can see in the memory support here, it specifically supports ECC and there's a setting in the BIOS to enable it:

But for anything like virtualisation, or anything multi core, and really single core these days also, AMD is quite frankly leaps and bounds ahead of intel.

When i started this tread i was meant to put 'Future-proofing'.

I am aware AMD would be a better option but I would waste money buying a build from PCSpecialist with non-ecc and a cheap graphics card.

I don't like the ideal of wasting electronic goods.

The immediate cheap option was going for Intel.

But surely the immediate cheap option ends up costing you more in the long term? Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t understand that logic.

I’m not trying to be difficult, I’m just struggling to get a handle on this one and I fear I may not be the best person to help you here.

This is Cooper, signing off 👍

But do you have any other recommendations spec wise for an AMD?

Should go for this instead and then upgraded couple of moths down the line?

What monitor and how many of then would you be pairing this PC with? And when would you be upgrading a monitor?

Extra thermal paste is not necessary. Preapplied paste with H115i is very good.

I have 2 monitors to pair with it: a 4K 60HZ and a 2k 60HZ screen

I plan on overclocking the Intel PC or the AMD if i decide to can my first order.
