Hi all, been having emails with pc specialist about my h115i elite capel cooler. and been advised to send back pc again for checks . Have created an rrma and just waiting for confirmation , but am looking for some help to maybe cancel this rma as i do not want to lose it for a couple of weeks again .

The issue is as follows . The Aio seems to connect and disconnect at random sometimes , sometimes just once and sometimes every minute or so for long periods of time .Seems to be mostly when playing games

I can have icue open and see it go from the icue screen , I then get the usb disconnect noise , the led on the cooler block , turns off , fans start to ramp up . Then usb connect noise, appears on icue again, and it works normally again . This can happen many times in a row or once every now and again ,

With the emails from pcs i have checked connections i can see , have tried old version of icue , reinstalled icue4 many times , Have changed power settings for usb to stop turning off to save power . Even turned the usb noise off in windows and it was driving me mad when it happens .

Have read some things on line about not enough power from motherboard to the corsair commander causing this issue , But have mouse, keyboard , headset and case fans connected and none of these have the issue . It is just the cpu cooler . So any one had any experience that can suggest anything before it goes back again .

Thank you

To be honest you have already tried everything I would suggest. The nuclear option would be to perform a clean install of Windows and see if that remedies your situation but I wouldn't be hopeful.

*Edit* - Could you post the full specs of your machine from your order page. It will help other people maybe come up with suggestions.

I'm going to bet you have an Asus X570 motherboard....

Edit: Lol, you posted spec just as I posted this. iCUE/Commander Core is known to have issues with Asus X570 MB, loads of threads about it on Reddit and Corsair forums. Some people have reported fitting a USB hub working, but apart from that, there's no known cure with Corsair blaming Asus and vice versa

Might be worth buying this hub and seeing if it resolves issue. If it works, it's probably a quicker solution than RMA'ing it to PCS.
Thank you for that idea, i have just called pcs, explained everything and they said they would get it worked out if i sent it back . I was tempted to order that hub , but maybe just me but i feel it should be working ok anyway , it is not there fault but i just want a correct working pc , and hoping they can rectify the issue without me spending more money

You're right to think this way (not saying you couldn't/shouldn't have tried @IRLRobinS suggestion - it was a great one) but wanting to get what you paid for - aka a working PC without having to spend more yourself isn't a bad thing.

PCS will get it sorted, its sad that its taken so long and needed several returns and I appreciate that can be frustrating but it will be sorted.

Please report back with progress once things are in motion and ideally (fingers crossed) with some positive news once you've got the rig back!

If its anything like mine (same motherboard, similar internal kit) I reckon this build has got an internal USB hub already that's actually the issue, it will be in the bottom of the case behind the PSU and will have cables crammed onto it and one of the plugs is probably not seated correctly, just needs checking if not already done so.

Didn't know PCS fitted these. Do you have a pic? Do you know if it's a powered (via SATA) hub or just a USB splitter?

Yep, with all the Corsair stuff going on there isn't enough headers on the MB, pics below, it's really badly placed in mine, the NZXT ones look much better, its SATA powered it think, can't remember fully but looking at the photos its powered

And plugging it in fully resolved your issue Rich?
Didn't have an issue as such, just random weirdness with Corsair and specifically the pump head LED's so i just checked the full signal path and this was one thing i found, the main issue was the pump head screws were not tight so was a dodgy connection between pump head and socket in the body of the pump

But if somebody is getting random disconnects then this is certainly one to watch for

Thanks for the input , have had a look and i do not have one of those near my psu, looked everywhere but can not see it, maybe it was not installed and needed ?

I see you have checked all your connections but it's worth double checking these

Just FYI the commander isn't powered from the MB, its powered via a SATA connector, this could be your issue too, have you found and checked the power connection to the commander core ?

i have checked all connection on commander core , would you be able to tell me where the sata connection would be at all, to make sure i did check that, not very good with all this really ?

Your motherboard has 2 USB internal headers, at the bottom of the board. Your Corsair would/should be connected to one, and the second one might be free, or potentially your "WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD" might be connected to it. If you only have two USB 9 pin devices to connect, a hub would not be needed.
