just sold my laptop to buy a desktop, fed up of finding it in the kids room left on the floor! Looking for a build to last us a good few years that the kids won't outgrow without upgrading for under 1500, an over priced fortnight/roblox killer but something that comfortably runs flight sim. Yes I know everything has rgb but thats the most important thing to a 9yo!

Hello, what monitor will you be upgrading it to? Are you looking at 1080, 1440 or splashing out on a 4k or a super/ultrawide?

That will help work out if you need to change your spec.

Most likely end up with something in the wide 1440 bracket.

Looking through other posts and i have changed the psu to 550 TXm and added the silver warranty as suggested by many!

If you were going for 1440 the build below would probably see you right. If you go for the 3600X the stock cooler is good so you can save money on the water cooler. However, wiser heads like @SpyderTracks or @Nursemorph can weigh in on whether you might need a Ryzen 7 processor instead. Opinion seems divided on whether you want 32GB RAM for MSFS - but a lot of people playing it are saying that 16GB is fine.

If you aren't in an immediate rush, it might be worth looking at either the 3070 or 3060 when they come out. You'll likely get more performance for your money - with that in mind, I pushed the power supply up to the RMx 750. Definitely better to go with the Silver warranty The next wifi card up is great value - so I added that too.

If you have your own copy of windows, you might be able to transfer the licence which would save you another £100.

Just to add, Flight Sim seems to favour more cores so if you are transferring your Windows license over it may be worth putting some of that saved money towards the 3800x CPU and AIO cooler 👍

The 3070 will be available sometime after 15th Oct and the build below is slightly over your budget at £1519 but does include the 3070 along with the beefier CPU and the AIO coooler. (thats assuming you have a licence you can transfer of course).

I've just ordered a 465x with a 240mm frost flow aio, after ordering i found out the rad cant be mounted to the top of the case because of the size of my ram as I had expected! Any ideas of how it will be set up in terms of fan position and air flow direction? I'm assuming the rad will be sandwiched between the case fans and the included fans on the front, all drawing air in? If this is the case would I be able to repurpose the aio fans and move them to the top as exhaust? Also could I connect them to the case rgb controller so everything is in sync or will just need to bite the bullet and buy new to cover all the above?

Yes, i got the rgb. From what I have read it interferes with the fans if fitted at the top. That's fine but im trying to understand how my fan setup will work with it at the front?

Think it may pay to buy a 3 set of fans and use them as exhaust if the rad is mounted to the front fans? Or can I use the original aio fans repurpose at the top of the case?

Dude on the phone couldn't answer my question as he can't actually see my build, all he said was if the builder let me add them all in then it would fit he just can't say where but advised the engineers would chose the best possible placement. Wait and see i guess.
