Asus Prime b760-plus d4 Sata Ports

PC Specialist supplied me with a desktop with a Asus Prime b760-plus d4 motherboard. There are 4 Sata Ports shown on the diagram. When supplied, the two at the bottom of the board were occupied by an HDD and a DVD Writer. I want to attach a spare SSD drive, ideally I would like to use one of the two SATA ports that are on the side of the card (numbered 1 and 2 on the diagram), to connect the DVD drive. However, none of the spare SATA leads that I have seem to fit these ports. What type of port are they? the manual simply says 6Gb/s ports.

Could you post the full specs from the order page?

What ports are you referring to? SATA ports are universal, but you have both SATA power and SATA data ports.

When you say 2 SATA ports that are on the side of the card numbered 1 and 2 what card do you mean? Pictures may help, it’s not making much sense so far.

This is the manual for the Asus Prime B760-Plus D4, the ports currently used are the two at the bottom of the card, two more appear at the right edge. The manual doesn't say that the four are different, however, they do not appear to take standard Sata data connectors. They are in a very awkward place and as it's a brand new machine I don't really want to take the case apart, I wondered if there was anyone familiar with this board who could help. If need be I'll buy a Sata expansion card but it would still be good to know what they are for.

Oh, so by card you mean the motherboard, that makes more sense :)

They're all just standard SATA Data ports. The ends only go in one way, it has one side that goes down / up so you have to have it the right way up

Thanks, but if you look at the manual and the images that I sent, you'll see that the two side Sata ports on this motherboard do not take the standard Sata L-shaped plug. I might have to get on the Asus to find out what these are.

I'm not sure what you mean, they're standard SATA ports? There is not alternative SATA connection. The manual shows they are standard ports, not sure what you mean that the manual shows they're not?

The side ports are merely on their sides like the image above, whereas the bottom ports are facing upwards.

Can you take a photo of the cable you're trying to insert?

Ok, I've solved it. They are standard Sata ports, pointing towards the edge of the motherboard. However, the backplate supporting the motherboard has a lip which partially obscures the port, I've now managed to plug in a Sata cable with a bit of careful leverage, so my problem is solved. Thanks for your hep.
