Battlefield 4 Rig - Ultra Settings with average 50-60FPS - Suggestions

Hey everyone, :taz:

I'm looking to order a gaming rig that can handle Battlefield 4 on Ultra settings quite comfortably for the best price possible.

Do any of you have the game, have any suggestions or know what might work well?

My top end budget is £1500 but I would appreciate less than that if i can achieve the same/similar results.

The build below is just a starting point - please point out anything that isn't really needed or something that would really improve performance (I'm willing to spend a bit more if it's REALLY worth it!):

FIRST TRY:

Case
FRACTAL DEFINE R4 BLACK PEARL QUIET MID-TOWER CASE

thanks again for the suggestions. It's just the decision between the i5 and i7. Aside form gaming i'd be doing some graphics work so I'd have to go for the i7. Do you think the motherboard i chose was too overkill?

Little difference in 1080p gaming between 780 or 780ti I don't think. They'll both beast most games for a while.

Tom's build is great for an i7 PC, though for £1499 I'd suggest going for the Vanquish Enforcer in the review section. Gives you some overclocking options, 16Gb RAM for your graphics work, bigger SSD. You can't configure the review builds though so you'd have to sacrifice the soundcard (or buy one separately and fit it yourself if you really want/need it).

Should I wait for the 780 ti version or go ahead now? Will there be much difference?
You're on a budget and the 780 ti will be a couple hundred more pounds than the regular 780. You do the maths :)

As for i5 vs i7 - bear in mind that the i5 is not a low-range chip. It is perfectly capable of handling demanding programs, obviously it's not quite as quick as the i7 range but it is quite fine, and at a significantly lower price point.

Go for any of the builds mentioned here , they are all strong , but i would advise going for the I5 as mentioned above , this will save cash & they are very capable processors , secondly you could drop that SSD , its not needed at all , with the processor & the saving from this your nearly on your way to another GTX780 in SLI & believe me you wont have to worry about framerates anymore on anything for a very long time with two of these beasts running your games.

Say hello to maxed out everything & everything at 60fps - gauranteed !! :)

Makes a lot more sence than the I7 & the SSD as nither of them will benifit your games at all , but two GTX-780s (sli) sure will !!:)

Only thing is that battlefield 4 wont SLI properlay at the moment , but thats only temporary as nvidia will bring out a better sli profile soon.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! Though this is definitely my favourite - looks perfect for my needs. Whats more I already have Windows 7 sorted so that's an extra saving on £1499.

Really appreciate it mate! :D

You can't modify the spec on the review section otherwise the discount will be taken away.

I have to say that if you're gaming on one 1080p screen at 60Hz then SLIing is not really worth it in terms of diminishing returns in your value for money. Whereas if your graphic work is pretty intensive then an i7 would certainly be useful I'd have thought (as would 16Gb RAM probably). And an SSD is always useful regardless of what you use a computer for. Boot times for an SSD compared to HDD are significantly improved regardless of how good an HDD may be.

Increased frame rates from 1 x 780 to 2 x 780 on a single 1080p screen is not going to give you significantly different visible results.

I'd say, for the uses you've described so far... an SSD and i7 would be more worthwhile investments than a 2nd 780.

Either way, the best value for money build close to your budget with the things you want is the Vanquish Enforcer. You could build your own and save money by getting an i5, no SSD etc. but the chances are your configured build will probably still be at least as expensive as the review Vanquish anyway so you may as well go for that.

http://www.bf4blog.com/battlefield-4-retail-gpu-cpu-benchmarks/

54 & 77 fps on 1X GTX-780 (1080p) no AA - Vs 90 & 116 fps on 2X GTX-780 SLI (1080p)
39 & 61 fps on 1X GTX-780 (1080p) 4X AA - Vs 80 & 102 fps on 2X GTX-780 SLI (1080p)
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080 MSAA 4X resolution 200% 14 & 20 fps on 1X GTX-780 (1080p) Vs 26 & 35 fps On 2X GTX-780s

Huge differences & this is with no v-sync turned on , turn it on & the fps is going to drop across the board , so it will be the difference between 60fps at all times with 2X GTX 780s & big frame drops all over the place (with AA turned on that is) with 1X GTX 780.

& if you game on a 120hz monitor the differences are even higher.

Boot times for an SSD compared to HDD are significantly improved

Yep & for all that cash , thats where it ends , no extra perfomance in games (maybe better loading times)
