Could definitely do better.

Have you purchased it already or are you looking for advice?

The 3090 is leaping out as a huge waste of cash for gaming. The money is in the RAM for Octane Rendering etc, the gaming aspect is a publicity stunt. Almost £800 saved now would almost buy you the 3080Ti in January. Purchasing a 3090 for gaming is just wild.

Ordered it this morning, so can still amend. Money isnt much of an issue, i couldnt see any better options on the site unless i went into the liquid options, which I'm not really interested it.

What monitor are you pairing it with?

Just hitting max on everything isn't a good way to build a system :)

Monitor not withstanding this would be elite level. Note that I wouldn't order it like this as the H115i RGB Platinum is out of stock. As soon as it's back in I would switch the H100 over to the H115i. You will be waiting for a while on the 3080 Strix anyway so should have some time.

As long as im not losing performance i dont mind. Im ok with what im spending.

You need to spend a LOT more on the monitor to get the most out of the system. That's very, VERY, low end 4k and wouldn't warrant the system above.

For 4k you would want something like this..

Or for, IMO, the ultimate experience you would want the Samsung G9

Does the 5900x offer much more than the 5800x.

from what have read and various benchmark (pinch salt etc), for gaming does not seem to be much in it.

Not really, but then again the same can be said with the 5600X :D

More cores will help with some titles though and when the budget is throwaway, might as well go big (5950X). If I had unlimited funds I would be on the 5950X in a heartbeat.

From what I gathered the 5950x is only better if i wanna do some heavy work on the PC, the base clock speed seems to be lower than the 5900X too. Well I'm a noob and can spend a few hundred extra.

That LG monitor looks pretty dope, I might just get it too.

It's all about peak frequency rather than all core. Single core the 5950x is the fastest. Multi-threaded it's also the fastest overall (by quite some way).

It's a toss up though, you would be absolutely fine with any new 5000 series chip for gaming.

Be sure to switch the cooler to the H115i RGB platinum when it's available also :)

Scott, isn't the H115i RGB Pro XT on the configurator essentially the same as the H115i RGB Platinum? Just has no RGB in the fans, only on the pump head? If so, that's in stock...

It does look the same. I haven't really read anything on it to know for sure. Will be better than the normal pro though, that's for sure.

Believe it or not the main difference is actually in the pump & heatsink. The RGB Platinum series used plates by Cool-It which was a game changer :D

I think I saw @Nursemorph mention it, calling him in to verify 😃(y)
